Hi All,

I've been persuaded to collect a few of my stories together for publication in June. Nice, but I have an unexpected issue. Ideally I will need a cover shot - nothing too racy (especially given that my anthology will appear on the Amazon 'shelves') and it need not even feature a face much less anything more than a hint of nipple or whatever.

My problem is how can I best ask someone here to provide the picture? I don't want to use a selfie (even for the author biog) as certain work colleagues might recognise me and I wish to remain anonymous (for now, at least), and in any case my 'heroine' is supposedly in her twenties, ten years younger than me.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know as I need to start getting this all put together now.

Why not hire a professional model?

Nice idea but...

I'm not exactly a lottery winner, and this is a first-time publication which is likely to make me near to zero cash. If I can find someone for the cover, I may turn to them again later if things go well - and then it will be sharing time, profit-wise - very much not model territory.

Or maybe ask the shy exhibitionists in the AmPics forum. Surely one of them would love to do it!

Good suggestions

Thanks guys - I have a feeling that, even though I really am looking for a very slightly daring, shy, 'exhibitionist' (who can't show too much anyway), I might well be faced with public domain material - there's just so much of it, though, and I have a pretty clear idea what I'm looking for. It would be so much easier to describe it to a willing contributor....

You do not want public domain material. It makes your copyright "hazy." Try one of the stock houses-- istockphoto, etc.

Which is why you should speak to people in the AmPics forum. Many people there know a lot about photography and would make great collaborators.

The chance of some pretty little thing just happening upon this post and being eager to send you pics of herself as you describe them to her is probably pretty low.
