Will The Fraud demand a recount in Israel?

It's their election. Netanyahu is now looking at a severely fractured Israeli government with Likud holding only 29-30 seats in the 120 seat Parliament to the Zionist Union's 24.

The fight is far from over. Both Likud and the Zionist Union now have the chance to build a coalition of support, whichever reaches 61 seats wins. Netanyahu has managed to alienate a goodly number of people that supported him. is it enough? We'll find out soon.

President Reuven Rivlin, who in coming days must charge Mr. Netanyahu or Mr. Herzog with trying to forge a coalition based on his poll of party leaders’ preferences , said shortly after the polls closed that he would suggest they join forces instead. “I am convinced that only a unity government can prevent the rapid disintegration of Israel’s democracy and new elections in the near future,” he told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

There's a saying about counting chickens..

I assume Likud will cut a deal with the party headed up by that one fellow who just quit Likud.

That doesn't seem likely to lead to any period of stability, though. The next election in Israel probably isn't far off, assuming the increasingly messianic Bibi doesn't just declare himself king.

As far as Miles's bullshit little gloat -- um, it's his side always bitching about voter fraud, recounts, etc. Did you see any of that coming from liberals after the 2014 election? Me neither.

Maybe, but Moshe Kahlon broke away in part out of frustration with Netanyahu to form Kulanu, which focused on pocketbook issues. Kahlon leans to the right but has issues with Netanyahu.

His support is not guaranteed for Likud. As you said, he split from them and formed his own party over disagreements with their agenda.

His ten seats could put either party over the top for a majority. He is in essence, about to play kingmaker. Does he dislike Netanyahu enough to throw his support behind Hertzog? It's unknown, yet.

So how many seats did the Likud lose, one?

Wrong question. The real question is how many seats did hard line conservative parties lose overall?
Likud lost one seat.
Likud's former coalition partners also lost ground:
The Jewish Home lost 4 of it's 12 seats
Yesh Atid lost 8 of it's 19
Their other ally, Hatnuah is now part of the Zionist Union so all of their 6 seats are lost to the old coalition.

On top of that Kulanu (led by a former Likud party member) pulled 10 seats

So Likud's 2014 coalition lost a combined total of 19 seats. An additional 10 are up in the air.

So, your predicting a massive change in Israeli policy eh?

I'm not predicting anything. I'm saying that a whole lot of people are counting chickens and that Netanyahu has a lot less support than Likud's loss of one seat would make it appear.

I seriously doubt it.

Numbers don't lie.

His coalition has lost 19 seats they held before the election, 29 if Kulanu backs someone else. Which is more than possible considering they felt strongly enough to leave Likud and form their own party.

They held 68 seats, now the coalition holds only 49 IF they can manage to keep Kulanu with them. If Kulanu supports someone else then Netanyahu's coalition is looking at retaining only 39 seats of the 61 they need for a majority.

So, tell us how this affects current Israeli policy, foreign and domestic.

If Likud loses it's majority and Zionist Union takes it?

The Zionist Union has its position firmly within the Israeli peace camp, the party pledged to "reignite a process with our Palestinian neighbors based on a regional platform, and foster our unique and special relationship with Washington" The party also pledged "to rescue Israel from its international isolation [by] restor[ing] relations with the US and Europe, and uniting the world in its war against terrorism and aggression" The rest of their platform concerns economic issues faced by Israelis, which is a huge concern and why they managed to garner so much support.

Those economic stances are what may draw Kulanu into a coalition. Common goals, as they are concerned with the plight of Israel's middle class, Kahlon has in more recent times suggested support for territorial compromise for a two-state solution. He has said he is "a product of the Likud" but that his "worldview is center, slightly leaning to the right." While campaigning in 2015, he would not say whether the party would endorse Benjamin Netanyahu or Isaac Herzog for prime minister, although Galant, placed second on the Kulanu party's list, suggested it would prefer Herzog.

It could be night and day.

Those of you who wanted Bibi to lose can thank that useless asshole in the WH for helping him get re-elected.

Oh well, he fucks up plenty of things. Not sure how he fucked this up but I'll add it to the check list of things he should be chastized for. Are we still not throwing him in jail as a war criminal?

The anti-Semitic American left is in major butthurt today.

The American left is anti-Semetic? Since fucking when?
