I left home.

18. Went to university and when I came back for Christmas they'd moved house. It was never my home after that - holidays etc but nothing more.

(Yes, they did tell me...)

Good thread! :)

I graduated high school at 17, didn't have enough money for college, joined the Army.

Nevar looked back.

i went home the first summer after freshman year of college. haven't lived at home since.

That happened to my dad, although he didn't find out until they drove past the old house.

Dad: Aren't we going home?
Grandparents: Oh yeah, we moved.

the first year in college, i came home with my tongue pierced. mom flipped. "you only got that to suck dick! how disgusting!" my room was promptly dismantled, repainted and my shit moved into a closet. that summer i lived there, but it was no longer my own space. the next two summers, i took summer classes. ended up graduating early, because of the extra credits i picked up.

18, I went to University for 4 years. Graduated in May and got married in June when I was 22.... Don't get me started on that decision.

Dang, I posted before I voted in the poll. I didn't see the dolf as mom choice.

i voted 20, because that was when i had a place of my own, but in reality i had only gone 'home' when i had no other choice since 17.

I still live in the basement...I have it fixed up real nice now though....Mom passed this winter and Aif I'm lucky my brothers and sisters will let me stay here a few more years.

Real lucky and they don't rent the place out and I can move upstairs.

I left at 17. My mom ripped the hair out of the top of my head in a fit of rage, and I decided that would be the last time I would deal with her bullshit. I packed a bag and got on a bus within days

Yeah, but was she right?

I graduated in May, turned 18 and left for college that August. I returned home for a few weeks a couple of times, but both times were because I was moving from one place to another and just needed a place to store my stuff.

"Home" was someplace I went to sleep since 16. After graduation I left for good. I spent nights sleeping in cars and often times just being out not sleeping at all. I don't have a room at my parents house and when I go there it's uncomfortable, like being in the house of strangers.

I was 21 or 22 when I got my first apartment. I moved back last year for several months, while I was deciding what I wanted to do. Ended up buying my first home.

After the age of 18, I visited home a few days a week. I paid rent, even though I was not there much. I officially moved out at 24.

I moved out after first year university.

Both my children moved out for university as well.

I keep two spare bedrooms at the ready so they know they always have a place to stay.

And to fool me in to thinking I'll see more of them. :)

Bonus! Wishing you luck to getting upstairs. :D

Later than most. I was gigging and trying to live on the cheap. My folks didn't bug me much, when I did move, I moved 2 hours south.

From when I started work 17, I often stayed with friends rather than going home an hour and half journey. Then at 18 joined the army, and after a while stopped going home at all.
