I am kind of wondering if most of the US is. I know very few people who don't drink at all except AA members, and very few who don't at least episodically drink to excess.
Used to piss off my wife, the more I drank, the better I talked and walk, plus it would make me hornier, sometimes hungry as shit, too!
I stopped when I realized I had 6 long-neck Michelobs, 6 rum and Pepsis, and 8 "Fireballs" - cinnamon schnapps with hot sauce dropped in - over a 7 hour period and was not feeling it, wasn't feeling any different. I was stammering like normal, tripping over my own feet like usual. And...I didn't want to eat!
So, I gave up the demon alcohol to excess that night, went to a beer or two, drink toasts at weddings....
I'll drink socially, usually either wine or tequila, but more often than not I'm the designated. I've never been drunk enough to have a hangover, but I've been more than tipsy. I might have a drink once a month and maybe two or three times a year have more than that in a sitting.
can drink a fair bit on special occasions, but normally one or two bottles of wine over the course of a month, sometimes one bottle of wine one week, a quarter-size bottle of whiskey/brandy or rum instead of the other bottle of wine. this month i bought 4 bottles of wine that were heavily reduced, and i'll likely drink them one bottle a week.
None of your poll options fit me. I drink socially or occasionally wine with dinner. Once in a while I'll make a drink when I know I don't have to do anything or drive anywhere. I made a cocktail last Saturday after the day from hell. The previous drink was New Years Eve.
I like wine with steak.
Beer with pizza.
Milk with lasagna or spaghetti.
I doubt I'd drink beer with cardboard pizza though.
I checked the box "wine with meals", as it was about the closest to the way I drink. I will have a glass of wine, or a beer, with a meal. Maybe 2-3 times a month. It's been several decades since I last had too much to drink. As Kristofferson said, the going up ain't worth the coming down.
