We have a new contest this year and the gates open March 1. This was selected via an author's poll, and I think it could be fun. Here is the basic info:

April Fool's (April 01) [new! per author's vote]
themes: Stories (humorous or otherwise) of surprise meetings, humor, tricks, trick endings, and other themes of deception, chance, and/or misunderstandings (happy or otherwise)
starts: March 01
closes: March 20
winners announced: March 27

So as the Valentine's Day draws to a close, and spring approaches (please please please, we need some spring), it's time to try something new!
 
I have finished my first entry already (with technical help from a friend - much appreciated). All it needs is a final edit, reducing the length of some sentences.
 
Oh shit, already? Well, I have one or two possibilities. My flash it-will-write-itself Valentine story, the one that might not make it because I must deal with critical shit before deadline, might fit there. We'll see.

Just a heads up that A.I.R. will be holding their 3rd annual A.I.R. Sexy April Contest this year.

Full details will be released as soon as the Valentines day Contest is over.

I think it's awesome they're adding a new contest. We've had the current ones for... a decade now?

I would love it if they tried out some non-holiday themed contests as well.

My V-Day story never really came together (I got about 20 word pages in and realized it just wasn't going to fly), but I have a great idea for April Fool's and a few pages already written. Looking forward to seeing how this one develops!
 
Draft just now finished.

Think someone posted recently that they thought there would be very few stories for this contest. From reading this thread, that doesn't sound like it will be the case.
 
I'd like to do something for this one (I'd like to write just about anything at this point), but I'm not sure. I'll have to sift through and see if I have anything lying about on the computer that would fit, or could be adapted.

Been there done that with zero results. No ideas to even spark a plotbunny.

I have a plotbunny jumping around but at this stage the idea seems crass. It would be a jeanne_d_artois story using characters 'she' has already created. Or 'she' could do another Laundry Tale based on an historic April Fool.

I have folders of part-completed stories for Earth Day, How-To, Free Speech - all obsolete. Can any of them become April Fool? Maybe the Earth Day ones can.

Or there is always the possibility of a 15 x 50 word set for April Fool. That needs 15 plot bunnies and the 50-word stories take much longer to write than a two Lit-page story.

I've known of this luscious site for years and have been gently pushed by others to submit stories. It wasn't until this early morning that I joined. It seems the market has been flooded since "50 Shades Of Grey". I've seen some good stuff here and although I'm too late for Valentines submission, April Fool's may be more appropriate to my style.
Greetings and great inspiration to all. My door is open. My windows are transparent . XO
