You're completely missing the point of every single reply made to you. None of this has anything to do with you personally, it has to do with the advantages that you (and I) have in this country simply because we were fortunate enough to be born white.

I've never had security follow me around a store or harass me, because they assume I'm there to shop, not to shoplift. I'll wager you haven't either. Some of my Black and Hispanic friends are not so lucky.

I've never had anyone say anything about a promotion I received where I worked (or in the Army), it was assumed it was because I'm competent at what I do and deserved to be moved up. I've heard more than a few "token" comments about minorities that were promoted both in places I've worked and in the Army.

I never had anyone even question why I got into the college I wanted, because they assumed that it was because I carried a 3.9GPA (in High school and college), not because the school needed more minority students.

I can dress any way I want and not have to worry about being labeled a "thug" or a criminal. Mostly I don't have to worry about even strange looks unless I'm out riding on my motorcycle in full leathers and dark shades. But that's because bikers are stereotyped (Thanks Sons of Anarchy).

Pointing out that yes, racism exists is not racism. Although that it a typical reply from people who are flailing to defend themselves.

As for looking in my own back yard.. I don't have any troubles. I have a great life, a great wife, a lucrative career, a paid off house in an affluent NJ suburb and another in Florida that I rent to my younger sister. I just don't try to fool myself that many of the opportunities that came my way may not have were I not intelligent, somewhat handsome, and white. Because that's the fucking winning lottery ticket in this country. You have to be a pretty serious fuck up not to make something of yourself after being dealt that hand.

I don't buy into any of that. I was referring back to the comment someone made that people don't get jobs due to ethnic sounding names, and I was making a point saying that did not exist where I work, due to so many Blacks and Mexicans. His point was moot in my book. He said it existed, I said it didn't where I worked. Next excuse?
I don't really care what people think of me. By saying I have what I have because I am white is racism in itself. (In my opinion). I couldn't get what I have on my own merit, I only have it because I am white....and I know that is not what YOU said, but plenty of others on here have said that. It is simply not the case. My husband and I have what we have through extremely hard work, my daughters are a success due to the fact they put their nose to the grindstone and made sure they succeeded...it isn't because they are white. If anything, there are times white women are discriminated against BECAUSE we are a white woman. But I don't let that stop me, and I don't complain about it.

In today's world, someone is always going to be discriminated against. Whether it is gays, lesbians, Blacks or Mexicans. It is what it is. My whole point is, that doesn't have to stop people. You can make better choices and rise above that. Every person in this country has the right to same education as everyone else. If a person chooses not to take advantage of that education, and make bad choices, and squander their life? Don't sit around and blame it on me because I am a white woman and I chose not to do that.
I treat everyone the same, I do not judge, and I do not treat people badly. My whole point is some people need to quit making excuses for their failures and quit pointing fingers. I was not saying that to you per se, I just get tired of the excuses.

If I have what I have because I am white, then somebody dropped the ball, cause it has not been easy and I have had struggles upon struggles. I would think my white privilege would have made me life easier.

Blacks and Mexicans can succeed in this world just as well as anyone else...some just choose not to.

Where I worked last, for over 12 years, was half white people and the other half Blacks and Mexicans, so I don't think having an ethnic name was an issue there.

Differences between blacks and whites overlap. Most blacks are not criminals. Some whites are. Some black men marry the mothers of their children. Some white men do not. Some blacks are more intelligent than some whites.

Nevertheless, average differences exist. They have a durability and degree that indicates genetic causation.

Where in the world is there a black majority country with a high standard of living, a low crime rate, and regular, honest, and contested elections?
