For everybody that doesn't know, Glasglow's claim to fame is that they reenact Highland games every year. Anyone who lives there would know because they close the roads down and it's a major tourist thing. In every pm she's sent me she keeps building this more elaborate lie. And I don't know why she keeps picking specific places without researching them, but she's been getting everything from geography to social functions just completely wrong.

I don't go to the Highland games actually. I think they look rather boring. But the roads don't close though, not sure where you got that one from. Let's ask this....you have 2 kids sitting in school side by side. One is white, one is another race. The white student studies night and day, has the high GPA, does the assigned work on time and gets the KEES money and the academic scholarship.
The student of another race parties all the time, never studies, lays out of school all the time, and barely passes so they get no money for college by their GPA.

Who's at fault here? I don't see that as white privilege. I see that as a student who worked hard and one that didn't.

Where I worked last, for over 12 years, was half white people and the other half Blacks and Mexicans, so I don't think having an ethnic name was an issue there.

Because I am a successful white woman, I must either be racist, stupid, ignorant, putting on a stupid act, lying about who I am, or had everything handed to me because I am white. Shame on you. Ignorance itself is forgivable. Being ignorant of something does not make someone bad, just uninformed. Choosing to remain ignorant is quite different.

Feel however you like about me, it matters not one whit. So long as you remain willfully ignorant of the world the more often you're going to have people like me point it out to you, repeatedly. Hopefully one day you will decide to educate yourself instead of wrapping yourself in a safety blanket of misinformation.

I Googled "white privilege" since it took all of 2.5 seconds to learn it was a phrased coined by minorities so they can blame white people for their issues.

That's nice.. So since you didn't actually notice any institutionalized racism where you worked, for 12 years... it doesn't exist? Again, educate yourself.
You're completely missing the point of every single reply made to you. None of this has anything to do with you personally, it has to do with the advantages that you (and I) have in this country simply because we were fortunate enough to be born white.

I've never had security follow me around a store or harass me, because they assume I'm there to shop, not to shoplift. I'll wager you haven't either. Some of my Black and Hispanic friends are not so lucky.

I've never had anyone say anything about a promotion I received where I worked (or in the Army), it was assumed it was because I'm competent at what I do and deserved to be moved up. I've heard more than a few "token" comments about minorities that were promoted both in places I've worked and in the Army.

I never had anyone even question why I got into the college I wanted, because they assumed that it was because I carried a 3.9GPA (in High school and college), not because the school needed more minority students.

I can dress any way I want and not have to worry about being labeled a "thug" or a criminal. Mostly I don't have to worry about even strange looks unless I'm out riding on my motorcycle in full leathers and dark shades. But that's because bikers are stereotyped (Thanks Sons of Anarchy).

Pointing out that yes, racism exists is not racism. Although that it a typical reply from people who are flailing to defend themselves.

As for looking in my own back yard.. I don't have any troubles. I have a great life, a great wife, a lucrative career, a paid off house in an affluent NJ suburb and another in Florida that I rent to my younger sister. I just don't try to fool myself that many of the opportunities that came my way may not have were I not intelligent, somewhat handsome, and white. Because that's the fucking winning lottery ticket in this country. You have to be a pretty serious fuck up not to make something of yourself after being dealt that hand.
