President Obama's energy policies result in 5 1/2 year low for oil

Outside of the American military, is there any area where the U.S. government can claim our "investments" have led to real success?

Internet worked out pretty well, I've heard really good things about a couple of damns. There's a canal, well a couple one that connected our great lakes but another that connected some oceans. Given that up until the day before space travel was impossible for private industry there are a lot of satelites up there doing a lot of good.

And that's if we just want to count the physical stuff.

Not to mention the National Weather Service, which seems to be getting into vetteman's craw today.

Shocking but true: there were actual roads in this country before we had gasoline taxes.

Back when there was no Federal Department of Transportaion.

Yup.

And we had railroads before the transcontinental railroad.

I sure do miss wagon trains.

And we were handy with muskets before the DOD. There's a point here?

My trusty arquebuses still draw fear in the hearts of men on these mean streets.

As long the fuses light properly, that is! :D

The foresight and leadership of President Obama has resulted in $57 a barrel oil prices.
This is great news for America!

No ascription required. Still a laughable position to stake out. More so, that he won't defend, modify or retract it.

All 48 states had a gasoline tax by 1929. Linky

The DOT was chartered in 1966. Linky

lol... you crack me up. I generally like you (not in the biblical way) because of, not despite, you being full of shit.

His mind truly doesn't work like most folks' minds, does it?

A delightful blend of willful ignorance and natural ignorance. Quite charming.

There were actual roads before there were cars to drive upon them.

The point being that it is always presented as if there would be nihilsm if the FEDERAL government didn't look after us.

One of the few constitutionally required activities for the Feds other than maintaining a Navy is the building of "post roads." That doesn't mean the need to involve themselves with every road in the country.

The interstate system makes a degree of sense. Paying East-Coast, Davis-Bacon wages to build and maintain it it through right-to-work states does not make sense.

Cart paths, metaphysics, poo-pooing the Commerce Clause, something about the navy building roads, Davis-Bacon and Right-to-Work.

That post had it all!

What it didn't say though, was that you agree that you were wrong about the post I responded to.

Sure it does... paying workers good wages to do their jobs makes complete sense. It allows them to take care of their families, pay their fare share of taxes, buy things like houses cars, motorcycles, go out to eat, which in turn creates businesses that offer those things. It's building from within...and there are studies that have shown that it really isn't much cheaper to hire scabs and the work often reflects that as well.

You're just a fucking idiot, especially regarding unions. Congrats, you and fatassjerryinflorida are in agreement....and neither of you even have a job.:rolleyes:

That's funny, because you are the FIRST person I've heard state that notion.

(I know, opinions are just as good as facts.)

That would require a degree of intellectual integrity.

How exactly am I wrong that there were roads before there were gasoline taxes or DOT?

Since there were roads before 1929.

My grandfather drove to NM from Kentucky before 1929. He did not own a jeep or a chainsaw at the time.

:nods:

Sort of intellectual integrity that one would show in at least attempting to defend their indefensible thread title?

That sort of intellectual integrity?

Your delusions of grandeur are something to behold.

What policy of Hussein Obola resulted in the current price of oil?
