U.S. and coalition planes have conducted 48 air strikes in last 3 days in support of Kurds as they advance on Mosul. Kurds cut highway outside of Mosul linking it to other Daesh cities.

The US military's statement confirmed that "forces from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region seized ground formerly held by the enemy, including a critical road junction that ISIL was using to resupply their stronghold in Mosul."

Another bunny story bites the dust.. And the uber "intellectual" vetteman is concerned with a missing letter verses a lack of facts.

Their claim is that somehow air strikes will miraculously roll back the gains Daesh have made in a single day.

It's a no-win situation. If the President had done nothing, people like Busybody and vette would point their fingers and say, "See, he's weak on protecting this country!"

However, since the President has authorized strikes on Daesh, and they are having an effect but not fast enough for people like vette, they can now point their fingers and say, "See, air strikes are ineffective. Daesh is still conquering territory!"

People like them would be the same ones who would have whined that after the Normandy landings Germany was still in France a week later.

Yep, we should stop the airstrikes entirely, and do what Israel does - send in covert missions and not cop to them.

Why do you call em

Daesh

Daesh is the derogatory name to call ISL.

The term “Daesh” is strategically a better choice because it is still accurate in that it spells out the acronym of the group’s full Arabic name, al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham. Yet, at the same time, “Daesh” can also be understood as a play on words — and an insult. Depending on how it is conjugated in Arabic, it can mean anything from “to trample down and crush” to “a bigot who imposes his view on others.” Already, the group has reportedly threatened to cut out the tongues of anyone who uses the term.

So long as we do the same to everyone else. When Christians attack Muslims, it's Christian terrorists. When Hindus attack Christians, it's Hindu terrorists. When Jews attack Palestinian farmers, it's Jewish terrorists.

Consistency is the key.
