ROLL CALL: House Sergeant-at-Arms: Congress Is a Top Terrorist Target.

As the Capitol Hill community digests news of a foiled ISIS-inspired plot to bomb and shoot the complex, law enforcement officials are reminding congressional offices the Capitol is a top target for terrorists. . . .

According to the Sergeant-at-Arms, Capitol Police continue to coordinate with the FBI, and law enforcement officials are monitoring the situation. On Wednesday, federal prosecutors filed a criminal complaint in Ohio court against Christopher Lee Cornell, 20, who was allegedly plotting to travel to D.C. and detonate pipe bombs at and near the Capitol, then shoot employees and officials.

Smarter terrorists would leave Congress alone. So far, it’s done more to hurt America than they have. . . .

any answer?

Guy Fawkes?

He had the most successful plan to blow up The Palace of Westminster including the King, The House of Lords and The House of Commons. He even overestimated on the quantity of gunpowder needed.

No tiny pipe bombs for him. Many barrels of gunpowder, far too many for the size of the target.

well since he is dead...we ought NOT worry about him....NOW

and the OP is talking about NOW:D

but I know, you know, that I know why YOU and OTHERS wont answer

The punishment for attempting to blow up Congress should be the same as for Guy Fawkes - torture including the rack, then hung, drawn and quartered.

Shame we don't have the skills to do that today. Hanging and drawing (cutting out the intestines and leaving them outside the body) could be made to last 12 hours before the criminal is despatched by cutting into four quarters for public display.

ISIS doesn't have those skills. They are incompetent butchers, as are the Saudis. Seven cuts with a sword to behead a woman?

Ann Boleyn had a last request for her husband King Henry VIII - to import a professional French swordsman for her decapitation. He did it with one stroke. Some executions at the Tower of London were incompetent. The last one wasn't. The WW2 German spy executed by firing squad died instantly and the chair on which he was sitting shows the accuracy of the bullets that passed through him.

We do have professional beheaders in the UK - the Gurkhas. If they can behead a bull with one stroke of a kukrhi, a human would be simple.

Why should I?

How do I know how many nutcases there are in the US who would like to blow up Congress?

I have no idea whether they would be white, black, yellow, followers of ISIS, survivalists, white power, black power, for or against abortion...

If you were asking the question about The Palace of Westminster then it could be an IRA clone, a UVF clone, a jihadist, a feminist, a follower of North Korea or just a disgruntled voter. Of those choices, the IRA clone is more likely to have the capacity to do it.

The most likely suspect is the one least likely to get the opportunity.

The least likely suspect, perhaps the little old lady pushing a shopping trolley, might get through. Perhaps she has shares in an oil company and is annoyed that her dividend has been cut.

Yesterday in the UK a local council's officers were gutted by fire. The man arrested had a grievance about a planning application. He is also thought to have set fire to a neighbour's house and a funeral parlour.

He wasn't 'the usual suspect' but has done more damage in ten minutes than most European jihadists achieve.

The more usual response to irritation about a council's decision on a planning application is to borrow a shit-spreader from a neighbouring farm and spray the building with cow dung.
