The only thing that annoys me is when people don't use punctuation, or use text speak. This is a text-based medium, people. At least try to make it easy for people to understand your actual text.

I buy red pens by the dozen for my work. I really don't want to feel like I have to break out a virtual one when I'm corresponding with adults.

It doesn't bother me too much here on the forums (fora?), unless I can't make head or tails of a sentence. HOWEVER - it really steams me to see it in the stories. I mean, aren't those things supposed to be thoroughly edited and juried before they're allowed to be published in our elite story boards? I know people who've had to submit their work time after time for ridiculously nitpicky things, but then they accept stories with rampant spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. Whassup with that?

Yeah, seeing some of the garbage in stories is annoying especially after getting denied so many times I just gave up.

Careful or you'll get fuck-tackled! Lol.

OK, resume with deal breakers or whatever deep thinking is supposed to be happening.

I have no idea why this happens, especially because it often takes much longer than the promised time before a story is up. On the German Board no-one gets denied. Unless the program hiccups on some clues (like age). But the spelling and grammar mistakes go through. No living soul takes a look at the stories before they are published there.

(:)rose:)) That is too bad! Try again?
I know I have a lot of grammar mistakes in my stories (English and German alike) even if they are at least read by betas before I admit them. I only have an editor for the German ones, and readers find mistakes even after he has spent a lot of time on them (I just make to many mistakes with the darned "der, des, dem, den's and the rest of them).

And sometimes I use a word meaning something else entirely. Quite instead of quiet or quit in English, or klettern (German, to climb) and kletteren (Dutch, to clatter, to tinkle) when I write German or Dutch.

Happy Monday!

Because the medium so heavily relies upon written communication we tend to put a very high value on grammar when chatting at Lit. Complete sentences and good grammar are often cited in bios and on thread posts as a requirement for further engagement. But do we put too much emphasis on grammar? Should the occasional typo/autocorrect/mistake be over-looked? Whether someone has decent literary skills is often identified within a body of work not a mistake in a sentence. I think we should all strive for excellent grammar skills but the grammar Natzis should stay away, don't you?

Everyone makes the occasional typo here and there. I am not *too* stringent upon making sure everything is perfect. Perfection can be quite a bore, at least I'm told.

Now, for the number of periods after a statement to denote a pause? That might be a deal breaker for me ...................... LOL! Just kidding!

However, no text speak. Just. Don't. *shaking my head*

It's not like me to just go and take over his thread when he's gone. Does anyone have a question?

I s'pose we could all speculate on what he's doing until he gets here.

You, pmann? You would NEVER dream of doing that! *grin*

*peeks in*

*gasps*

No Chained?!?!?! Where's our broody, gothic style leader?

And even more importantly, where's the question?

Yes. Punctuation can be vital. I said this example to someone the other day:

Help Jack off the horse.

OR

help jack off the horse.

Those are two very different commands...
Oh, I like that example. :D The one I use to illustrate the need for punctuation is:

Let's eat, Grandma.

OR

Let's eat Grandma

Overall, I appreciate the effort when someone strings together a coherent sentence and doesn't use text speak. Unless they use it ironically.

Play? I looooooove to play! :)

Unfortunately my day is crazy busy!

*dashes out*

*dashes back in*

I might be able to think of one. Or fifty. Questions are rather my forte.

But...darn busy day.

LOL! Endless_Night ... you're making me dizzy with dashing in and out.

Oh and yes. You and your endless supply of questions. ;)

Perhaps you should come up with one. I wonder what the brooding, gothic Papa Chained will think about THAT. :D

Saunters in, unbuckling my super hero tool belt. Saving the world is such hard, hard work.

Questions, you want a question???? (Note over use of punctuation, please)

It's always good to keep everyone on their toes. You never know what you might see if you peek over the edge. And what if you did peek and saw two people you don't know engaged in what you would consider "naughty" sex? Would you watch. For how long? Would you consider touching yourself?

Why is it that we find watching people in real life exhilarating but have so much disdain for it on the boards?

:eek: This question seems to stray from your normal style. It is almost sexy. I have a guess on what was keeping chained preoccupied.

For me-- I would absolutely watch until I was asked not to.

Would I masturbate.. probably not right then, I am not a good multi-tasker, but I would probably masturbate to the memory later.

I DON"T despise THAT online. In fact I love watching people be naughty with each other on the board... SRPs & even a good back & forth string in arouse me in 5 words.

The gooshie, lovie, you are so beautiful, you are so perfect, type stuff gets on my nerves but it gets on my nerves IRL too. I have a friend who is all "I love you sweetie" and you will often find me mocking her in real life.

Fucking- Love to watch.. Fairy tale- gag me

I think seeing it happen in person is more of a visceral reaction. We see it, it's hot, we want it, we watch. Whereas watching it on the boards requires thought processes, you need to process what is going on, so it removes you from the situation.

But just like anything there will always be exceptions, such as the ladies who posted above me :) I'm kind of indifferent myself, I don't mind reading the flirting and sex talk, but if it spans across several threads and it's derailing all if then, then I get a little annoyed.

Great question chainedup

Edit to add: I would absolutely watch, but not play. I agree about naughty vs kinky.

Did you mean kinky instead of naughty? I think of the term naughty differently than many other people.

For example a married couple having anal sex, I might describe that as kinky. If they're not married to each other, then I would describe that as naughty.

See the difference. I wouldn't be opposed to watching depending on the circumstances, but I don't think I would masturbate right then.

Because it's fucking annoying and it makes others feel uncomfortable. And really at the end of the day nobody cares. It's a cry for attention and marking your territory. Done in the right way it's lovely. I like to see that people are happy and that people find eachother. What I can't be arsed with is reading about it every time I log on.

On board, I'd prolly be annoyed because it's boring. Wait! Why don't we ever see any man o man post lusting, I'd stay for that!

I'd watch naughty sex, til they were done. Obviously if they were in public they want me to see.

Agree, especially with the bolded, in most cases. There are a few here that I enjoy interacting, but they're an exception rather than the norm.

And the pissing on trees/marking territory thing is just ridiculous. I find it on AmPics. Most of the time to puff up his/her own ego. Nauseating. We get it already. You have a connection with this person no one else has.
