I have a friend who buys the "juice" and makes wine...or what he calls wine. Fucking. Disgusting. Stuff.

I've had a kit for about 2 years, making wine is pretty simple. Making good wine is probably more difficult. I find fermentation interesting, and make yogurt and saurkraut too.

Lots of recipes here: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f79/

I'd recommend just making some wine from grocery store juice concentrates first. You can keep your costs under $1 per bottle, so if you mess up it's not a big deal. I've had good luck with banana, apple, hard lemondae, and potato wines as well.

Probably got contaminated. But if you really pay attention to cleanliness and sterilize everything that's supposed to be sterilized, just like the instructions say, your wine will be fine.

I can't make a damn grilled cheese sandwich. I'll leave the wine making to the professionals.

I have a friend who makes home-brewed beer. Not exactly wine, but very good beer.

You're using a rather unorthodox method to get in my boxer shorts young lady. Wanna discuss it over a glass of homemade Chianti?...

There you go trying to change the subject again like the coward you are. And your retorts are pathetic. What are you 12 years old?

My father used to make wine out of anything that would ferment. It all ended up tasting like Mogen David, so, I'm skeptical of the home bottled variety.

I've been making mead (honey wine) for years now. It's become quite a hit at our annual family reunions. I end up sending at least a dozen bottles home with relatives every year when they all head back to the rest of the country. After a dozen or more disappear as fast as I can pull the corks. This year was a Clementine orange spiced mead.

I've never used a kit. Just followed some really good recipes, improvised on them, and am now creating my own. My latest experiment is a lime and mint mojito flavored mead.

I suppose champagne is more your forte.

Ironically it is, and I wouldn't make that either. Though, my interest or preference for champagne over wine has nothing to do with my user name.

This is less about contamination and more about inferior grape juice in the hands of an amateur resulting in lousy tasting "wine." Great winemaking is art and science and taste, best left to professionals with years of training and experience. Put another way, my uncle was a good whittler but I wouldn't let him perform a triple bypass on me.
