Clothing-Minimalism, Project 333, KonMari

i have a very small living space, and it's been a few years since i made a purge of the closet.

i need to schedule a work date with my shit.

You mean simple and tidy isn't the normal state of things?

I know my wardrobe is boring as fuck but it's totally efficient...

I'm not that huge into minimalist fashion, but as for the minimalist living space... you don't get bonus points for cleaning your house the way people in the internet act like you do. Since I got big into the tiny house movement, I learned what a capitalist pig dog I was, but... it seems that I didn't fix that somuchas I went digital. I traded in a library for a nook and a game room for a harddrive. I didn't actually declutter my life at all. I just put the clutter on the cloud where I couldn't see it.

I am going from 4000 sqft to one cargo container for storage and living in a 40ft airstream fulltime...everything I keep must be necessary.

I live very minimalist.
My entire wardrobe, winter and summer clothes, can fit into a large-ish suitcase. I only buy clothes when I have to throw something away because it's torn or worn out. Same with shoes.
Everything else I have fits into my car. I have 12 pieces of furniture, which are mostly secondhand, restored items.
I do not have knick-knacks or ornaments anywhere anymore.
My whole life of 'stuff' has been reduced.
And I'm happier for doing it :)

I don't relate to the tidy part. But for clothing, I wear dresses almost exclusively because I bike everywhere and typically need to change upon arrival. This means I dress the same almost every day, basic dress and a pair of tights when needed.

Food is the same, I doubt I use more than 33 ingredients ever unless it is a special occasion. I eat the same core foods everyday because that is the easiest way to have a healthy diet and stay fit.

You bike in a dress? Bravissimo!

How many pairs of jeans do you own and how many dress trousers?
How many suit jackets/blazers?

I own 7 pairs of jeans as I live in them for three out of the four seasons (for summer I have 4 pairs of cutoff jeans).
I do not own a single pair of dress trousers, and right now I have no blazers as I got rid of the old two and am waiting for the new season styles to hit the stores before replacing them.

Most of my clothing is in groups of 7..... 7 dresses, 7 bras, 7 tshirts, 7 mens casual long-sleeve shirts (4 white and a red, a green and a pale grey. I love wearing them as they're so versatile!)), 7 singlets, 7 skirts, 7 pairs jeans.
The exceptions are.... 4 pairs cutoffs, one winter coat, 1 calf-length coat, 1 cardigan, about 20 pairs of gstrings and knickers, 5 pairs socks, and 5 pairs of shoes/boots.

I like the number 7 quite a lot, but I am curious why 7 everything and then only 5 pairs of socks?

I had a friend who owned 10 dresses, and 2 pair of jeans, 3 blouses, 1 coat, 2 shoes, 1 boots
The dresses were all silk and on Saturday she would drop the 5 she had worn that week at the cleaners and pick up the 5 clean ones. She worked in NYC.

Five pairs of socks because I only own 2 pairs of shoes that need socks. One pair knee-high boots for which I have 2 pairs knee-high socks, and a pair of hiking boots for which I have 3 pairs of ultra-dry 3-layer hiking socks.
I do a LOT of walking/hiking, usually (though I haven't been since I broke my foot).

Please explain what you mean?

We're maximizing food and water storage along with things like ammunition and medication.

;)

Camo suits and clothing are everywhere waiting to be worn to usher in the end of days...

Batteries and generators and gas OH MY!

I have 6 wardrobe boxes packed away. Two of them with suits and sport coats I have basically never worn. One is just trench-coats. I live in the desert! I have a vintage John Weitz of OSS fame that looks like it's WWII German greatcoat inspired, and a full length came-hair trench from Saks that I got for $1,

My son, who is quite the sartorial enthusiast in his own colorful way, tells me I have far too many clothes. That is saying something.

I travel light and fast most of the time. I am down to one carry-on size bag that I can live out of for a week if I simply wash some things in the sink and hang them to dry. I still carry a garment bag with several button-downs just so I have choices but I never need more than two.

I have put off for over a year hitting up one of my 8x10s for a swap out of clothing just to rotate. It has been completely unnecessary.

If I am traveling with next to nothing and where I am going saw m black, ralph lauren pearl-snap last month around this time, I can grab something interesting in 10 minutes for $5 at any thrift store.

Maybe I should buy a 7th wardrobe box and fill it?

My friend with 10 silk dresses was back in the late 80's, it always impressed me, but I could never wear them, at least not year round.

Except for occasional pairs of shoes, I rarely buy new clothes. Lately I have been going to swaps and my girlfriends have been passing jeans around. I have one pair, but they are wearing out so I am open to a second pair. Am wondering an ideal number of clothes in a planned wardrobe.
When I used to wear suits to work, it was easy, I just had about 3 suits, two pairs of shoes and 6 blouses/tops. I wore army surplus and/or skirts and moccasins and/or sandals on the weekend.
With swaps I kind of have clothes I can wear and some surplus, but I don't necessarily have clothes for all events.
Right now I just want to have the right clothes that I am totally happy with for whatever I am doing, I don't actually need much, I am used to wearing the same thing over and over.
I am also kind of upgrading. I just went from sleeping in huge cut up t-shirts to 2 flannel granny gowns which is much more practical esp. when travelling.
I think I have too much stuff that will do, but is not exactly right. I would like to be more mobile.
The squirrel had 5 pairs of 505's, about 20 t-shirts, 1 polo shirt and 1 button down, 2 jackets and 1 pair of boots which seemed to work well for his life style. He rented suits/tux when needed.
I am not sure I wish to go that far but I would like to have just the clothes I need plus my costumes of course ;)

Even though we have a lot of things, we have simple tastes, simple clothes and a frugal life-style...

;)

Most of that stuff is in deep storage.

I pretty much wear the same thing all of the time.

The other thing that comes into it is laundry facilities When my dryer was not working I needed more than clothes and sets of sheets to include the two days of drying that was sometimes needed.

Me too, I wore a uniform in high school and I have no problem wearing pretty much the same thing each day with a fresh shirt and undergarments.

In the winter I add a sweater and a few long sleeves. If it's very cold long underwear and/or wind trousers.
