Comments And Voting

I pulled the plug on story voting and comments because I have a good idea that the votes will be mostly 1s and 5s, and the comments are rarely useful and serve as a stage for trolls to lick their balls in the middle of the living room.

So now the anonymous trolls are sending me feedback emails :)

Well, it's so obvious you crave the attention. Probably even posted this thread as a suggestion. :D

Another ball licker checks in. AH's premier fart smeller, I mean smart feller.

Doesn't every writer crave feedback? If we had no need for feedback on our work, we wouldn't bother to post it at all; we'd just write it in private and then lock it up in a bureau drawer.

Not JBJ. He waves it over his head as he jumps up and down and bitches. The "Hey! Look at me! Look at me!" approach to everything.

No, not if its attention whore living room ball-licking a la PILOT or bull shit flattery that Pilot inhales like a fresh wet fart from TEX.

Methinks that all James got in his Christmas stocking were lumps of coal--yet again. :D

Feedback

I have left comments and voting on for my stories and probably always will. I kinda like stirring up the trolls. The only email feedback I've received has been positive but I get a mix of good and bad comments. My theory is "Take them all with a grain of salt and a shot of whiskey!"

Its been kinda fun reading ELFINS emails fulla exasperation and outrage for chasing her outta my living room and exposing her as an ANONYMOUS troll. I s'pose now she'll hafta hop on your lap to cut the cheese. Enjoy.

I'm never a troll and never anonymous. I think sr and I have a mutual antipathy to each other's laps.

Go back to snorting on the pig swill - and don't snore.

ELFIN would be a great name for one of my trailer park skanks, maybe even a series: LIL ELFIN ANNIE.

That was a good one.

I have no work up here yet, and frustratingly so I might add, but its interesting to see the different ways the authors here deal with the comments and feedback.

I think my initial strategy will be to leave them for awhile even if they are bad. Seeing I am working on some romance stories I don't see them getting much abuse, but I do have some incest ideas and know from being a long time reader in that category there is a lot of nasty comments left there.

I get really upset and can't help take it personally when I get a really vitriolic attack comment. They haven't happened in a while nor did I get a lot of them, but I still smart when I think about em.

On the other hand I have gotten as many feedbacks and comments that were encouraging, and they make me feel really good. But the majority have been telling me about my typos and misspellings.

I have thought about turning off the comments and voting many many times. But I never have. Can't say why I haven't but I just never have. One thing, when I read a story and want to post a good comment and can't, I feel cheated, and sorry for the author.

I think this: Readers are easily influenced by what comes before them, and when they read contrary sentiments to what they hold they move on or pull their punches cuz maybe the trolls are right. So I pulled the plugs on comments and votes to test my hypothesis, and was favorited more than usual. So....until readers sprout some balls no more comments or voting or emails with feedback. And ELFIN can gnaw on her fist.
