It's based on easily proven facts. Take any tall, rich or MMA-badass dude (who isn't WAR MACHINE, of course) and put them against the average joe, especially a short average joe. The tall, rich or MMA-badass dude will win 9 times out of ten even if he's a fucking douche. And society feels that's alright.

Same goes for old vs young for women. And for men, it's tall vs short, rich vs poor... all things being equal we are all going to take the better deal. No sense crying about it.
