I heard the mouse trap in the kitchen fire off and a subsequent struggle last night. When I went to investigate, it was gone. And I couldn't find my shirt. I don't think the two occurrences are related.

Mine gotten broken somehow when I lent it out but I think it caught a lot of mice there before then. They may have tried to wash it.
I caught 45 of them in it at my old apartment when the building was being renovated.

A while ago, I found the best mouse traps ever.
These have a plate top and bottom that snaps shut (instead of just a wire on top and plate under) but they also had serrated, interlocking teeth.
When a mouse stepped on, they snapped shut and the interlocking teeth literally cut the little rodents in half. No getting away from these!
A bit messy but fixed that by putting the traps on old newspaper.

In the two house moves since then, I've misplaced them and the store I found them at doesn't stock them any more

They were brutal...... but every single time I heard on go off I was guaranteed a kill.
