One of my kids likes 23 as well. I do not know the origin but I will ask. I like 22 better but there is something appealing about numbers that have some sort of pattern. Like 456, or 135 so maybe 23 appeals for that reason.

The US Treasury prints commemorative $1 bills for each year of the Lunar New Year. As many 8's as they can for a limited offering. Price is slightly over $1 as they place in a special envelope for the New Year explaining the significance of it. 8 is lucky in the Chinese culture.
