Climate continues to change.

Meanwhile CO2 is at 400 ppm

That's 1,000,000-400=900,600ppm NOT CO2

Oceans hiding heat? We have no recordings to show that. Pure theory.

Ice caps expanding? Yes. Polar bear thriving? Yes. Chicken Little still looking for cove? Yes.

In order to believe things that are not so, you have to be skilled in reading for snippets that support the thing you believe in. A phrase here, some partial results from a study, a chart there. You cannot ask broad, logical, sweeping questions about whether a proposed scenario is likely, under what circumstances and what are all the variables along with the amplitude of change each of those variables might bring to the party.

If we knew for an astronomical fact that a meteor was going to destroy the planet and every person on it in 8 years, they would still be saying global warming is the biggest threat to mankind and must be addressed immediately wit draconian measures against our financial interests.

Debt and unfunded obligations is the biggest threat to the survival of the United States.

;) ;)

I looked at that and it jumped out of me, the reduction of temperatures in July.

JULY!!!

I guess that was one of the coldest winters on record polar vortex redux...

Gotta love it.

Every winter the nimrods all get together to proclaim that climate change is a hoax because winter is cold.

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/2014GL061940/abstract

We compare four independent estimates of the mass balance of the Amundsen Sea Embayment of West Antarctica, an area experiencing rapid retreat and mass loss to the sea. We use ICESat and Operation IceBridge laser altimetry, Envisat radar altimetry, GRACE time-variable gravity, RACMO2.3 surface mass balance, ice velocity from imaging radars and ice thickness from radar sounders. The four methods agree in terms of mass loss and acceleration in loss at the regional scale. Over 1992–2013, the mass loss is 83±5 Gt/yr with an acceleration of 6.1±0.7 Gt/yr2. During the common period 2003–2009, the mass loss is 84±10 Gt/yr with an acceleration of 16.3±5.6 Gt/yr2, nearly three times the acceleration over 1992–2013.
Just in case you were wondering why global temperatures haven't been increasing at the pace you think they ought to be. The additional heat has been melting Antarctic ice instead of bumping up thermometers.

Holy crap

we got 197.5 cm of snow in November this year..77 3/4" for those still in the dark ages

Of course, the latter is what scientists including climatologists do.

The deeper the cover, the better it will come through the winter.

I guess...maybe it will help when I spin the track on the front lawn and tear the shit out of it with 156 carbide studs..yeah, a couple more feet should help that

Riding this Sunday...I can hardly wait

I only have studs in my car tires.

It's Dec in NYC and so far it looks like a snowless Christmas. I cannot remember having a snowless Christmas before.

That sounds like the sort of thing that people on the opposing fringe from Phrodeau's fringe are going to seize upon. I sense someone angling for some grant money.

The premise is silly. Were beavers and rodents just introduced to the arctic? Surely this cycle is already accounted for in any historical data.
Read the article next time.
The study, by the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, estimates that beavers are indirectly producing 200 times more methane today than they were in 1900, when fur hunting had largely wiped out the populations in North American, Europe and Asia.

The population rebound, on the back of a conservation drive, has greatly increased the number of “beaver ponds”. They are now responsible for pumping 881,000 tons of methane into the atmosphere each year, according to the research, published in the journal Ambio.
