Republicans swept the midterm elections this week, retaking control of both houses of Congress, several governors’ mansions and statehouses. President Obama, who stayed home on Election Day, will appear on CBS’s “Face the Nation” to discuss his plans for the final two years of his presidency with a Republican-controlled Congress.

-24 months and counting.

For some reason, many of the citizens of the United States do not hold the Republicans to a high standard. They can fuck up things and they still end up controlling Congress.

I will give the republican voters credit for one thing, they are keen enough to know that it's not presidential elections that matter. The off year elections are crucial.

When only 1/3 of Americans decide on the fate of a country, something is truly fucked up. It's not a matter of most people favoring the conniving, evil GOP party, no, people are just not showing up in the polls, especially young people, whose future is at stake. Of course the most rabid older wing nut will show up at the polls to vote against their self interest every time.

Of course the GOP will do what they do best, screw up the government and blame the President for their mess. The bought and paid for media will not say a thing. This country is turning into a mess.

And the Democrats have a big PR problem. Why are they so afraid to sell their accomplishments? The stock market is at its highest in years, unemployment has reached a new low and yet they can't toot their horns? That's why they fucking lost.

Yes... Politicians need to be held to account.

Except Democrats because of course even when they're in charge those mean ole' the Republicans get in the way and mess stuff up. Not at all the way the tip of Neil was so helpful to that idiot Ronald Reagan.

I do not have respect for people who do not vote yet bitch and moan about the consequences of their lack of actions.

THIRTY-SIX PERCENT of people voting in an election is UNACCEPTABLE.

In my opinion, those who don't exercise the right to vote have no say in the way things run in the country and deserve whatever fate they get.

I'm a Milllenial and I do not have much respect for my generation. Sure they turned out to vote for the presidential election but do not understand that off year elections DO matter. Just because the President was not on the ticket, did not mean it didn't matter. All they care about is Instagram and Twitter

But perhaps when a politician talks seriously about student loan forgiveness and UNDERemployment, their ears will perk up.

I would disagree.
Only those who do not vote has a reason to complain.
If you vote you do not have anything to complain about.
If your politician wins you should not complain.
If your politician looses you should not complain. You picked the looser. You can't blame anyone other than yourself.
If you vote you become a person either fooled by the politicians or joined in the farce. Either way you can't complain.

Unless this is meant as sarcasm you're an idiot. If it's meant as sarcasm you're merely obtuse.

No sarcasm. Simply the truth.
Don't blame the people who can see through all of the bullshit and call it the farce that it is.

Omicience is kind of wasted if you choose not to participate.

What's the point of being all knowing or having any interest at all in politics if you're not going to participate.

Would you vote for someone if you knew they were a crook?
Don't know what party you are a member of but would you vote for a member of the other party?
Would you vote for someone you knew was going to make the U.S. a much worse place to live?
Would you vote for someone who was going to make your life more difficult?
Would you vote for a person who was going to steal from you?

Participation in the political process is not begin on election day you nimrod. Yes most politicians if they don't start out corrupt will end up that way. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still better than allowing the worse of two evils to prevail. If you choose not to vote you still made a choice. You've chosen to deny one vote to the lesser of two evils. You chosen not to counterbalance one load to the greater of two evils.

You can vote for a crook if you want to.
I chose not to vote for a crook.
That is the problem we in the U.S. have. People voting crooks into office.
People who insist on voting knowing the person they vote for is a crook should loose their voting rights.
We don't need people that stupid electing crooks.

Democrats lost because each of us knows what our circumstances are, for real. Regardless of how you spin it, at the end of the day we know how much money we got, when we last got laid, and what our prospects are. The black kid knows he aint got a job or much of a future, and the Democrats paid for his reality check. Like Krauthammer says, THE GOP DIDNT WIN THE DEMOCRATS LOST.
