New OOC 'Rebuild'

Ok I will wait for Crammer to rock up and let him take his revenge on Thea. I will go and save the Damsel in distress after Thea takes off on me. :)

I am. This is a perfect end, with little having changed in how everyone views Daniel: still with disrespect partially, and distrust. Its a perfect way to end.

A year would place us at the start of the autumn again, half a year in the spring. I would like the spring ...

Cramer in my last post thinks to himself life would be better with a love of his own, any off you ladies mind writing for this female character?

So what's the plan from here on out? Continue writing, or start a new thread speecifcally for this new chapter of our story, or what?

Regarding MM's last post a few things came to my mind:

1) Zombies, not even with Daniel controlling them, won't be able to rebuild buildings. It would take too much power to control each individual zombie's doings.

2) The same for the waitress, Daniel might do such a thing once in a while on a special request, but for everyday use it is not possible, for the same reason as above.

3) The above means Eugene hasn't turned into a paradise for humans with zombie-slaves doing all the 'dirty' work.

I think it is possible to control, say, a thousand zombies wheeling wheelbarrows out off the city in a long line and have the rest stand still. Or a thousand throwing debris in wheelbarrows (since it wouldn't matter if half of the debris landed beside them, that would get in on a next round).

The same for the help with the harvest: A hundred zombies making the exact same moves (ripping out corn for example) would be possible, but not having them all drive trucks and cars* to get the harvest in.

So lets say the buildings Deacon exploded got leveled and the free space will be turned in a park, or vegetable garden. Zombies would be great at wheelbarrowing in soil too.
Daniel also could control zombies to drag deader zombies out off the city and throw them on a heap, which humans would light.

Eugene would be a city where zombies just stand around for the most part, because we want to keep Daniel as sane and sound as possible otherwise zombies would hunt again.

We would want to keep Daniel happy. We would keep bothers (for example people who want him to direct zombies to do tasks for them) away from him.

A small team of King's and Knights would look to that. Maybe a few would live with Daniel, in a place he chose, there would be his living quarters, those for the team, and they would have an office or two where they take care of petitioners.

The team also would take care of decaying zombies.

After only a short while word that Eugene is a safe place for humans would have spread, so the King's and Knights would have had to take care of them, direct them to empty houses, fill street after street, distribute food and such (this would have happened in the winter!) and make sure they too help with the work.

I really would like to keep things realistic (yeah, I know, we are writing a zombie story *grins*).

*Thea was only directing them in Deacon's general direction, not steering each individual.

I don't know. It might be a good idea to start a new thread, with a link to the old one, and to this OOC. I don't see the need to start a new OOC, you?

But a new "Rebuild" could be nice. We could call it "Building" or something like that?

But "Rebuild" still needs a few 'closing' posts, or we could start the new thread with retrospects to cover the missing half year or year (we haven't decided on that yet)?

Yeah, let's do a final post from each character, a finishing touch before we start a new IC thread. And we will definitely need to talk about what happened over the winter.

OKAY so it would seem Eugene would become a center for human regrowth but at the same time we would still be wary of the zombies knowing we were reliant on the whims of a guy who could still freak out at a moments notice.

I would suggest that the Kings would have been rebuilt to a very fortified position. After all it would not just be Zombies we would have to look out for. There are still warmongers out there willing to take what other people have. Of course having a zombie army to back us up does help.

Ties between Eugene, the farms and whoever was coordinating them would have been strengthened. Of course Daniels influence would not reach that far but perhaps it would be that once a month or so he does a circuit and brings all the zombies back to Eugene. This replaces our stock of rotting ones and clears the farms and whoever's environment. It is also the time he looks for the special ones that will set off a blooming.

Seems Troy and Cassie got together so I will post about that and maybe Anubis and the kids dog (I forget her name) can have some puppies to add some excitement. LOL.

In relation to Zombies maybe they would not run free. Would it be easier to pen them in a jail or something and let them out as they were needed on the off chance Daniel went off his rocker or another person like him shows up in Eugene and tries to wrest control away from him?

Also, Daniel is still mentally unstable, and as shown not everyone trusts him. He also killed a lot of people. Just saying, not many people would be nice to him. He would.probably be isolated and disrespected, the guy who quiets an entire room and gets the silent stare, if you catch my drift. Also, I would think the Kings would also limit his freedom, so that if he did go crazy again they could kill him if need be. So we have to factor that in, since only Cassie and Ria seem to have any chance to trust Daniel in the slightest.

Well, Wombat and BP, that was my idea behind the special team which stays with Daniel and keeps him happy: to have him under control, to have a constant check on his mental state, also to keep in check with his general health: what if he got the flu? Would a fever mean he would lose control over the zombies? The Knights don't know yet that those who had Napoleon will be immune against all common illnesses ...

Ria is willing to trust him, but also very cautious.

Having all the zombies (or most) locked in a prison (every big building would do actually) is a good idea, Wombat.

The kid's dog could have puppies, and Nana could too, if we find a bitch somewhere.
The King's might also look for horses, and start to breed them because at some time there won't be gas. The horses could be used for everything from farm work to riding somewhere, and all motorized vehicles use could be very limited from a certain point on.

Daniel doing a tour every month is a good idea too, the team would accompany him and protect him and deal with zombies in the last stage as well as with potential bloomers (or seeders, if we stay with the idea MM posted a while ago and which elaborated a bit upon).

The King's certainly would transform into a true fort!

A stray 'controller' is certainly a point to worry about, especially since such a stray would arrive with its own zombie force ...

Daniel would probably be connected to a stray controller; if they were close enough; in the same way he was connected to Thea. Through an Entity. Albeit a weak one, considering the state of the zombie population, but an Entity nonetheless.

And I already have a plan for a potential storyline involving another "controller"... hehehe

Yes, he would sense them arriving, his power would increase as the zombies arrive in his territory and the 'entity' would soon be as strong as it was between Daniel and Thea.

Nice! *grins*

Yeah that was my thought and why I suggested keeping zombies locked up. Of course we would have now had full access to the national guard compound and would have cleaned it out of all vehicles, guns, ammunition and foodstuffs and have done the same to every place in Eugene, maybe setting up safe houses just in case. (stocking them up with food, water, gas etc).

Was also thinking along those lines for next story line, but maybe could even add more flavor to it. Have the next controller being controlled himself by a human warlord at the head of a human army. He is using him/her to fight with the zombies then mop up with his army. Of course as he gets near Eugene no new zombies and the controller gets stronger as entity builds.

Safe houses, yes I like that. Also the streets the Knights allocated to the new arrivals would be fortified.

Hmmm all nice and well, but just remember to keep the zombies away from the more "rural" area, there's chainguns, minefields, checkpoints, chokepoints and just a general order of "Killing any undead fucker" mind-set.

Jerry will be staying on with Cramer, so I'll most like write his post.

Deacon would want to leave, if Derry wants to stay he most likely will, but he will not be happy. Also I have a bit of a plan with the whole fuel story, so if the thread does move on and you still want me around, I can bring that fuel idea to the new story.

Also if Isca is still around...how would Derry feel about motherhood? :p
