Thanks for posting rhod101 :)
You're right, the thread would be pretty boring if it was just me spouting on and I'm always grateful for a chance to discuss trans and gender issues with all the wonderful Litsters here

I don't think it would have been boring, even if it were just you talking to yourself. I genuinely find it fascinating and really feel for you and other transpeople when you talk about the fear or mistrust that you can feel when approached by someone. I just can't imagine being in that situation and I certainly can't understand those who would be violent towards someone else for what gender they were born.

I guess I'd like to think that people would be able to look beyond that, but I know that in reality people fear what they don't understand and the potential stigma of being seen as an outsider to their familiar group. Which is a massive shame.

And I have a big shoulder too. Not so sure on the armpit smell, but I promise to use aftershave to mask it! ;)

That's ok rhod - Brad is my cheeky online uncle and the family is growing - I have a sister too. They all smell good :)

Just found it online. Not really sure, but she is rather feminine and graceful.

Do you think using a female AV when you are male is deceitful?

Not really. The title underneath clearly states, "Mountain Man." Plus my bio makes it clear that I'm a guy and I refer to being one constantly. If one only goes by AVs, one will be terribly confused. ;)

Aha - Bless you Max, for taking the bait :rose:
I was looking at the comment about your AV ( and she is lovely ) and that got me thinking about "traps" . You know - the way that trans women are accused of being deceitful. So, no harm intended!

I hope you don't mind being taken advantage of?

I spotted a thread earlier about peeing outdoors. This is the ONLY thing I miss about being post-op. Damn, it was handy :D

Haha... Yes I don't have any gender dysphoria except for that -to pee outdoors I really really want a dick!

But perhaps that's also cultural because it's so much more socially acceptable for men to pee in public.

It's cool. It occurred to me that you might be trying to make a point, because it is true that some guys get incensed because transwomen turn out to be trans. Never mind the fact that it doesn't change the reality that they found her attractive to begin with. They can't get past their homophobia well enough to just accept that this is a woman.....whatever her genitals happen to be.

It's the same reason that K, that's what I'll call him, a different person, not the customer I mentioned before, but a colleague of mine at work, who is a trans-man is still a man and I still treat him as such, because that's what he wants to be and how he views himself. He is a man who happens to have been born with a vagina and just hasn't changed that particular circumstance.

And, yes, thank you, the girl in the pic is lovely and very ladylike in her demeanor. :D

Incidentally, that brings to mind the issue of trans of either gender using the bathrooms of their true gender and not their chromosomal one. Personally, I think that this could be resolved best with unisex bathrooms, since segregating restrooms is a 20th century invention and one that was done for prudish reasons, but short of that, what are they are afraid of, that a transwoman is gonna hit on every woman she meets in the ladies' room? Are they more afraid that a trans man is gonna hit on the guys and they can't handle that? I just don't see where the real cause of panic is.

Good question. Most of the hysteria surrounding this has been generated by a couple of pressure groups in the USA, one of whom took out a full page ad to put into people's minds that trans women in particular are weird deviants - lets not be coy: pedophiles - waiting to prey on children. Those groups know that a couple of cries of "Fire" will send everyone into a panic and undo years of patient bridge-building.

Perhaps a parallel ad could run suggesting that pedophile men could prey on boys or women on girls, but fighting fire with fire is hardly constructive or desirable.

The people who are most frightened to use their correct bathroom are the trans folk themselves.

No, it's just more socially acceptable for men to act like pigs. :D

It sounds fair to me, but then I have a bit of a nasty streak. You're probably right that it would not be a good idea. :(

Given the violent transphobia out there, I don't blame them.

The pedo thing is just bizarre. So, because a man or woman is trans, they're automatically perverts? Ludicrous. Really warped logic.

I saw a program once where a woman was afraid of a hitch-hiker because she was a transwoman and constantly feared that she would try something, but the transwoman actually saved her life from a real scumbag.

So I've discovered. I'm soooo disappointed. No money tree, no vayaya tree. Crap!

;)

I feel sorry for you when you find out the Easter Bunny does not lay it's own eggs, It employees a whole flock of chickens to do that for it. But I wont tell you as that is not my place to break dreams.

thanks to that trans.

"in particular are weird deviants."

HEY WAIT. What's wrong with being a weird deviant.?!?!?!?

Oh ... never mind. I thought you guys were talking about me for a minute.

:D

OK sticks ... go ahead and slap me all ya want. In the end, you and I are going to be weird deviants together. ;)

:rose::kiss:

There seems to be a lot of talk about toilet politics and gender which I find a bit confusing. Surely it is peoples behaviour that makes them stand out as socially unacceptable or not rather than the way they dress??

Personally, I tend to go with the policy that if someone is dressed in female clothes then that is how she wants to be treated. Her actual sex is immaterial to everyone apart from her. The same applies in reverse too obviously.

I appreciate there may be legal issues here but, Fuck me, lets all get a life and allow people to live how they are most comfortable.

Not a reference to anyone on here directly, I am just turning into Victor Meldrew!

It frustrates the shit out of me that anyone has to put up with bigotry of any kind whilst they have other shit to deal with.

Rant over! Sorry feel better now.

Hope you are ok Sticky??

Hi Pops and all

Yea, lots of scaremongering going on and it's easy to fan the flames of non-existent threats.
I don't want men wandering into the Ladies Room either! I've never been barred from using the Ladies Room, but I know plenty of individuals who have been. In the past I've had a few icy stares, whispering and the odd snarky remark, but that's hardly going to change the way I conduct myself.

I'm fine thanks Pops. :rose:
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding Lit a little dull at the moment. It seems like a lack of good discussions and new faces, leads to people getting bored and making snarky remarks on the threads, so I've been visiting less. It's probably just my frame of mind… *shrugs*
I think Ive had enough time-off from Life and need to get stuck into things again…Ooops :D I meaning work!!
Maybe I should get a bf for Christmas? :) You can always take them back afterwards if they don't fit
