I have begun learning the Gorean slave positions and am enjoying it very much. My goal is to be able to assume any position upon command. Are there other "common" positions that might be used as a submissive in the lifestyle? I am not Gorean or wanting to be, but I do think the idea of some basic positions with names that are recognizable is a great one. Nadu, Obeisance, etc. I find they are very helpful to inspiring a submissive mindset for me and I can't wait to try them with an actual Dominant. lol

Positions

I am not Gorean but I enjoy a few positions as well. I find the nadu position helps put me in the right mind set for submitting. As well as kneeling for the whip. I am not actually waiting to be whipped but the position is great for contemplating bad behavior or if I need a quick reminder of my place.

As the books of Gor are a fantasy, no one is actually 'Gorean'. But if the slave positions described in those volumes help you embrace a submissive mindset, then all power to you. And long may you be able to get down into those positions, too! More than just a little flexibility is required to assume some of those.

Positions

Positions are not just physical but also a mental and spiritual posturing. Why do you think yoga is so popular? It brings the mind, body and spirit in unity as one meditates upon something (or someone) other than themselves.

Some poses are meant to bring about inward reflection and others are designed to provoke external attention. Cat pose, Downward facing Dog, and Camel pose come to mind.

The key is to find that pleasurable mindset unifying all the attributes of the pyl and release them for the PYL's pleasure and enjoyment.

If you can't own the mind then you will never own the body.

I've received some really thoughtful responses here and by private message and I appreciate them very much. I agree with those who have pointed out that Gor isn't real (duh...but you must admit, some of you/them WISH it was lol :D) I know that I don't have to know every position. I know I don't have to call them by the name that they have been given by "Goreans", but since it's more likely that IF someone uses a term for it, it will be a Gorean name, I figure I might as well learn them that way. Of course if my "Someday Sir" doesn't want to use those names, or have me use those positions, I will not. One of my interests I've been exploring in real life is High Protocol service during meals, and I was thinking that as a group venture, knowing and using those names could be helpful for the submissives and D-types alike to quickly make a request. That's the main reason I am interested in learning more about them.

Someone privately said something along the lines that I should just focus on knowing myself and what I want and need from the lifestyle, and please believe I have. I am very aware of what will and won't work for me, and more importantly what I am able to be flexible about and which I am not. I am having great fun learning about all of this. I enjoy it. If I don't ever use it or need it, then no big deal, but if I do happen to meet a Someday Sir who wants me to know these things, I will be a step ahead of the game. It's just all for fun. And, it also is related to a lot of the things my play partner likes and desires, and since it is extremely compatible with what *I* want and desire, I am glad to learn more about these things.

Thank you again for all the thoughts, particularly those who live "Gorean-style lives" and have explained things to me on a deeper level. It's much appreciated. I have done a lot of reading, but discussing it with those who actually DO it is much better. I talk about this on FL somewhat, but since my soon to be ex is there I tend to be a lot more private about certain things in discussions than I am here.

Let me try it an see what happens.....Nadu! *anxiously waiting* :D

You do know what "good girl" does to melty subs, right? lolol

Leasha is another favorite of mine ....

Ok, I'm game.... What does calling one a "Good Girl" do to a melty sub? Hhmmmmm?

BTW, I'm right handed, lean your head to the left when I call "Leasha"..............Thank you, much better! :)

My next favorite is....wait for it....wait for it....."Tower".... Which side do you go to? And yes, this is a test.

Everything I have read says I should turn my head left regardless. Is it based on handedness? Tower...um, I guess I'll go left again. :D lol

Maybe I should have asked for D types to teach me this stuff since not so many s types have responded. ;)

I've always believed it's been a preference between parties. Mainly, because the dynamic is as unique as the participants. JMO though, nothing in documentation to back that up except for what I just wrote. :)

BTW, you should have gone right. You'll need to be punished so use your imagination on what happens when you get in the next position....Ready?

Ack. If you have gone anywhere near the freezer, I'm out of here.

Regarding the OP, there are a plethora of pyl's on YouTube who actually practice and display their position technique.

You may want to look some up and see what others are doing.

Let us know what you find and send us the link. Or better yet, post one of yourself practicing. *hoping* *with hands folded*. :)
