Not the higher sanitation standards or medical officials. My grandma recently broke her hip. Her anorexia complicated the issue, requiring a treatment plan that had only been invented in the past 5 years, and an implant that will work on her with her complete lack of muscle mass. So even 5 years ago, regardless of what she ate, she'd be dead. When I was a child, I pushed the life expectancy up by not dying- because the Clinton administration had just administered KCHIP allowing my parents to pay for my treatment. I had a form of bone cancer that, regardless of what I ate, would have killed me.
We're killing ourselves with our food (we, as a nation, are fatting and cancering ourselves to death at more than twice the rate of any other illness) but we have the medical know-how to keep it from killing us, just making us super uncomfortable. You don't die of rot because your diabetes from all the high fructose corn syrup and other sweeteners caused your circulation to your legs to shut down, they just amputate with a near perfect survival rate. Congrats, your life is preserved. And the life expectancy goes up because you, and millions like you, didn't die.
In this area, little kids prior to my generation, used to die all the time from parasites. That changed in my lifetime. Our life expectancy in this region went up by ten years because our child mortality rate fell as soon as parents could afford to get that treated. It was such a huge problem that during the KCHIP era, the CFR: Childhood Fatality Review was established in 1996 to take note of the changes. We're living longer, not because of food, but because we not have access to basic healthcare for children, so they aren't dying from preventable disease. Now we're living long enough for the cancer to get us.

Yeah, but organic food has it's own problems. My aunt's dairy farm was rejected when she applied for organic status because taking cows to the vet when they're sick and giving them medicine to cure them isn't "organic". You're just supposed to let them be miserable.

That's a bidnizz problem not an Organic problem.
IDK much about livestock but with plants there are plenty of non "round up" ways to deal with pest and disease that are approved for Organic production. Dairy farm down the road where I buy my cow shit from doesn't have any problems. You can't do organic without doing organic husbandry practices as well.
It seems that way sometimes but really only to those who don't know and/or don't care to know about where or how their food is produced, and exactly what they are eating.
In reality there is a huge difference between food grown in clean compost and protected with lady bugs than the stuff that the farmer has to wear a hazmat suit to treat/grow his crops with all kinds of toxic shit.

I'm assuming that it's because women's groups are the people most vocal about GMOs, with Vandana Shiva winning the nobel prize for her work in ecology talking about the dangers to women and fetuses in particular, and the world health organizations for women being more vocal than other health organizations for labeling and regulation. It seems unlikely that knowing these risks a woman would be among the advocates of just letting that shit go unchecked. Might not be what he was thinking, but it's certainly worth noting. Women are more at risk for adverse effects than men.

Yeah, the organic lable is terrible for the animals and great for factory farming. The way it's handled specifically fucks over local farmers and feeds into the hands of corporations.
