Tuesday on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports," former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta declared President Barack Obama's approach to be like a law professor, however without the aspect of rolling up his sleeves and to get the job done.

Instead he suggested Obama has given up.

Panetta said, "He [Obama] approaches things like a law professor in presenting a logic of his position. There is nothing wrong with that. We want to have a president who thinks through the issues. My experience in Washington is that logic alone doesn't work. Once you lay out a position, you are going to roll up your sleeves and you have to fight to get it done.

That is key in Washington. In order for presidents to succeed, they cannot just -- when they run into problems, step back and give up."

"There is a feeling and I have a feeling that the leadership and the president have given up on the big issues facing this country whether it's immigration or a budget deal or infrastructure funding or trade or energy. there is a sense that you can't deal with that. This country needs that. They can't give up."

On the plus side, it gives him more time to golf.

Pretty much just replying because I feel bad the other Obama thread has 19 replies and yours has none.

That said yours is just copy and paste with an obligatory golfing comment thrown in.

Anyone would get tired picking up Bush-droppings.

Maybe by 2022 or so, when Hillary is still blaming Bush, someone will have invented an automatic pooper scooper.

That is SO yesterday!

The cool kids these days all lead from behind.

Youre right. I'd solve the ISIS problem in one afternoon, with no boobs on the ground. I blame Eisenhower, who never was near a shot fired in anger....ditto George Marshall. Both were students of the George McClellan school of leadership. Its whats wrong with Iraquis...they have all the bacon, beans, brains, and bullets possible but no backbone.

So you don't find it interesting that even the Dems are bailing on him? Not much "leadership" is it.

I hope she won't be Prez. Bush was not all bad. His tax cuts worked. But the Iraq war, it's causing a cascading failure we will have to deal with for many years. Bush #! was smart enough to leave well enough alone. His advisers told him, 'You break it, you bought it".

Obama needs to read a book about Truman. Or at least look at a picture of Trumans desk.

Back in 2008, I posted a piece by Victor Davis Hanson about how Professor Obama would actually govern. He really hit that one out of the ball park with the hindsight available in 2014.

What the liberals always do is drag us back into the malaise of civil rights, equality and respect for all liberty, which on the face of it is a great thing, in theory, but it ignores the reality that the Islamo-Fascists have declared war on us. But, they are in charge and went back to their September 10 bunker of righteousness, liberty, tolerance, diversity and inclusion treating Radical Islam as a mere law-enforcement situation.

The only problem is, the cops do not show up ten minutes before the burglar ransacks your house or the rapist strikes the single (unarmed) woman...

It's not likely any current politician has that kind of conviction.

that's where the real disillusionment comes in for democrats... obama sold himself as an outsider, a non-politician. turns out he was the same, if not worse, than the rest

The Fraud has been caught in another lie about Benghazi. This time Panetta exposed him.

The man is a sociopath.

Obama coulda implemented healthcare piecemeal, to determine what works and what don't. Like, people can afford the small stuff what gores them are the babies and cancers and such. I'd even go for braces because they make a huge improvement in appearance and self esteem. Ditto cosmetic surgery. Sex change? No.

We usta handle terrorists with expeditionary forces. In Haiti, Mexico, Hispanola, Nicaragua, Panama we sent the Marines in to kick ass, hang the bandits, and come home. We could do the same with ISIS. Blow them to hell with cruise missles and carpet bombing. Yes, civilians die, they died in Tokyo and Berlin and Hamburg and Hiroshima.

What "lie" would this be? Strange how you routinely make these sort of accusations but never back them up with, y'know, links or facts.

Is this a Jew thing?

Bush's tax cuts were a huge part of the 2008 crash, so I guess they "worked' if you're a rich businessman with slash and burn scorched earth policies towards making money...

I don't see any responsibility for breaking anything from anyone in the Bush camp. Care to point it out? Maybe Colin Powell, but I haven't seen Wolfowitz out there apologizing for causing a war based entirely on fake premises that caused hundreds of thousands of death and tanked our economy.

Youre beyond fucking retarded.

How do tax cuts lead to a housing crash?

You know exactly nothing about the 2008 crash, clearly.

That's like saying that Clinton's well-documented love of fast food led to the dot-com bubble bursting.

The same people that complain about cultural traditions that are, at the very worst fairy tales and fables, will chomp down hard on whatever pablum they are fed for any particular election cycle. Once ingested they repeat back the catechism as if the fable had any relation to reality at all.

His assertion is so disconnected from anything at all to do with the meltdown, that there isn't even a place to begin to unravel the non-connection.

He says it with such an air of authority. Sounds like a quote from a salon piece or something.

Here, let me try it:

The crisis of 2008 and clearly be traced to the shift in monetary policy in Argentina where, for a brief time, they considered discarding their currency in favor of zingots, which caused a run on the Trefka-Siene metals market. Most respected economists including Walther P. Klaskmonov have stated as much in innumerable peer-reviewed papers on the matter.

As the run on Trefka-Siene was underway this caused a liquidity problem in all parts of the world banana market from Ecuador, to Honduras, to the plantations of the Galapagos.

Without transitory funding available, the bananas piled up on the docks and did not reach market even in time to make banana bread out of them.
