I think that men probably plan these things less than woman and that they are more prone to concurrent arrangements than consecutive ones.

Never met a contented woman, ever. They don't exist. I have 5 sisters, and all have had multiple husbands; my grandmothers had 3 and 5 husbands. My ma, 3. I have one wife for 41 years.

Women are good for one purpose, they know I know, and it pisses them off.

I've always valued smart, competent females...and nothing turns a woman off quicker than what I was doing. I dated one bright girl in high school who couldn't get a date before I came along. She was a much better student than me, and I respected her hard work and commitment to an education. And that made her crazy. I didn't sense how she wanted outta her bookworm cocoon, she gave me the idea she'd rather talk literature and ballet and cosmic consciousness. What I didn't get was how lost she was about the birds and the bees.

Smart and quick witted women, in my experience, have always been the most fun and most inventive. After my first marriage ended I vowed to never get married again, then I met my current wife. She's not just smart/intelligent, but she's quick witted too. I have to work to keep up with her. I married her for her mind and never regretted it.

We joke about our "Free Five", but I have no doubt that if I were to get hit by a bus tomorrow, by the next day she would have a plan in place for the rest of her life. Heck she probably does now. It's not cold blooded, I think it's built in.

As someone else said, for me, I'd just wing it.

Honestly I thought the number would be higher. This is for both men and women, IMHO. In the circle of people I know, I'm fairly sure I've met some of the 'PlanB' people, even if nothing was said.

In surveys of feeling, thoughts, desires, or other intangible things, I believe most people lie to the researchers. Even though they are talking to strangers about things that can't be tied to them, they say things that won't get them in trouble later if their answers were found out.

In my mind, I can see some of my friends doing this survey. They smile, letting their mind drift off, picturing that one person. They mentally slap themselves, repeating "I'm happily married," and looking into the researcher's eyes, saying "No one waiting in the wings" for me.

Trust me, not all women plan. I am not one of those women with a backup. In fact, I'm the type that was generally prepared to not date, not get married, etc., going back to high school. So I guess my backup was me.

I think it may be more that women notice when men pay attention to them in a way that means something. That doesnt mean they're planning. They just might realize that there are interested suitors. Theres a difference between tge rwo. Guys might not... Or women may be less likely to show them that. Of course, if the guy is a player he's likely taking advantage of the woman's interest all along.

Yeah, I have to agree. I haven't polled my female friends or anything, but although I've known some that wanted to get married, and some that were just happy when that occurred, none of them were stringing along a second guy "just in case." I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just that it's probably not that common.
