I don't know about Louisiana, but in this state, there's special rules for teachers and others in like positions, it's not just wrong but criminal. I imagine it's like that in other states.

Seems like you are making the assumption the newspapers are reporting everything wholly and accurately. Considering many of your other posts you seem to be stepping out of character.

IMNSHO, the vast majority of newspapers are far more interested in being as salacious as possible to attract readers and making money than in "Fair and accurate reporting." My comments are way less of a defense of the state of LA then a condemnation of the majority or U.S. news reporting in general.

I think that is what the "indecent behavior with a juvenile and carnal knowledge of a juvenile" charges are all about. That seems to be the typical misdemeanor charges they use in Louisiana with someone the age of the "victim." (remember he was only a couple of weeks from turning 17)

Although...even if he had already been 17 and able to legally consent, Louisiana has an interesting law they added to the books back in 2007:

According to Louisiana Revised Statute 14:81.4, inappropriate conduct between a teacher and a student is defined as a school employee having sex with a student who is between 17 and 21.

Interesting that they chose to draw the line at 21.
