In the UK we've generally thought of American bands as, well, naff. Invariably dozy long hair, clichéd everything, crap lyrics, all to a dreadful dated rockist beat, there's thousands of them you know all too well..
However, you have always had some greats. Though invariably they have to come HERE to be appreciated. Of fairly recent bands The Killers, Weezer, They May Be Giants and REM are very British in their art. Blondie were obviously great. But the all time best Americans were the brilliant Sparks who actually surprised even us in the 70's. Respect:
