In a different thread by a new author, the following statement was made.

If you want some feedback, once they are posted start a thread with a link to them in the feedback forum.

I've got a couple stories up now which only have votes. There are no public comments and only one private comment from someone who enjoyed the story but preferred a slightly different aspect.

Is it reasonable to use the forum as a launch pad for feedback? Most of my current stories, in unpublished form, have been written for GFs and their feedback was .... good. Hehehehe. But even still, I wanna polish my writing, a little bit at least.

Thanks

1. Get an editor
2. Publish
3. Use the "Story feedback" forum.

You will gain a much more useful critique that way. If you don't use an editor people will focus on petty nitpicking (spelling and grammar) when what you want is critique of your plot structure & your writing style.
