Mr. Speaker! We Need To Get Back To Benghazi

So, we invite in the Saudis and other assorted allies...

;)

... who will probably go on a beheading spree of their own.

You're only bored because his testimony is going to prove criminality at the highest levels of the Clinton State Department. The other two people in attendance were Clinton deputies.

It's gonna prove absolutely shit and we both know it. Whether or not you think Obama is doing the right thing as President you have to accept he's covering his ass.

There is an ill-defined line somewhere between CYA and obstruction. Where that line is is always open to debate depending on who has access to what information and who is in charge or restricting that access.

The other 50 hearings were just Republicans jagging off, but the 51st hearing is going to prove it.

Well that's because it's in the eye of the beholder. It's kinda like porn, it's not smut until it's your daughter. If Obama is guilty of something I hope he goes down. I however think this is ultimately exactly what we were told.

There was a riot, quite probably inspired by the video the Innocense of Muslims. (We know it was the cause for several other riots.) The local terrorists looked up and said "Well, that's awesome." And went to work. Just like we have war plans for if we goddamn invade England or Canada I'm sure terrorist cells around the world have a fuck load of plans labeled, "If the opportunity should arrive." Stevens didn't feel threatened in the area and decided to stay despite being advised to leave because 9/11. He was right, he was loved. So much so that they through a riot in his honor. (Which should be what we remember. That the winning their hearts and minds thing can work and in at least once situation was working.) He just got screwed.

People have an unrealistic idea of what the military can do and how fast. It seems obvious at this point that troops were told to stand down. Whether its because someone higher up did the math and decided not to make a bad situation worse (again, they rioted in his honor, I'm glad we didn't start bombing the rioters even if it did cost American lives. This is long game and ultimately a handful of Americans vs hearts and minds is an unfortunate but fair trade) or if they deemed it wouldn't do any good is a little up in the air. I don't think Obama is as cold as I am. Make no mistake knowing what we know now I would have told them to call their families cus it's about to suck to be them. Hell I wouldn't be beyond engineering the scenario to prove a point. But that's not what the facts seem to tell us.

No. That never happened that way. The attack was preplanned as you suggest, but it was scheduled for 9-11 for symbolism. The people in Cairo had nothing to do with it. It isn't as if resources were diverted to Cairo and it was a useful diversion.

What happened was militants wanted whatever Stevens was giving them or had given them for the guns, and wanted to keep the guns too.

I don't know that they planned to kill him. Maybe scare him, more likely kidnap him.

If I was writing a novel I would have this as a planned kidnapping to be double-crossed and 'saved' right before the election, but Stevens was unaware he was supposed to play along (of course) and in the process of trying to avoid capture or death, ends up killed by the smoke on accident.

The biggest issue is not what was done, it is what was not done. First the truth was not told. In order to keep the "Al Quaida is on it's heels" narrative, the events of the night there were conflated with Cairo for PR reasons...a lie but for PR reasons, and contrary to what was said by the administration no one told the military to do everything possible, instead no orders went out. In an effort to 'hope for the best" and avoid looking like there was an attack worth responding to.

F15's could easily have buzzed, and the two contractors did have a laser designator so a JDAM could have been dropped. Even if it was largely ineffective for reasons of avoiding collateral damage, a JDAM would have broken up the party sooner.

If they don't hit paydirt this time, will there be a 52nd?

The taxpayer monies used to fund these little ol' re-dos has gotta be reaching the bottom of Scrooge McDuck's money bin by now.

There have been lots of 9/11's before and sense. I doubt they would have done anything without the added distraction.

As for militants wanting what he was giving him we can agree on that. Arming militants doesn't seem to be a great plan in the long run.

A JDAM might have broken up the party sooner but at what cost? Speaking as a black person I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of the cops. I mean today we got ANOTHER kid shot and killed by the police. At the end of the day I think Muslims are people with hopes and dreams and all that and that bombing them pisses them off and makes them not trust us. It sucks that we lost Americans that day, I care, I really do, but I think when you drop bombs on them you recruit a bunch more terrorists and convince a lot more people that they should look the other way. There is a damn good reason why California has special order 40 43. . .something that basically says we don't ask Mexicans if you are legal. And it's because we want them to report crimes and work with the system. Even if they are illegals we want to catch murderers.

Which all could have been saved if they would only listen to Susan rice, Jay Carney, Hillary Clinton and you that this was all just a simple misunderstanding about a video and the filmmaker responsible for Benghazi is in jail, and the incident is settled.

...and fast and furious was a bunch of lies by a disgruntled so-called whistleblower, who has been dealt with as such liars should be.

Have you seen query and the other arm chair generals salivating in their faux-war glory? I mean they're in the category of too fat to fight but they can't wait to start dropping heavy ordnance on the embassy and fuck all who happened to get killed.

Calling them pencil-dicked losers isn't strong enough.

How much below 150lbs should I drop in order to serve? Sir, Gunnery Sargent, Sir?

Are you aware that the ordinance goes exactly where the laser paints? That highly trained special operators would not have humped it up onto the roof with them if they didn't think that a surgical munition in the area was feasible?

I guess your arm-chair is closer to the Joint Chiefs than mine?

...and why do you want to see my dick?
