The Official Author's Hangout 2014 Summer Lovin' Contest Support Thread

64 stories(by my count might be off one or two) and at least a couple more coming according to people here.

Is that about right for this contest? Seems a little low I thought summer usually got around 90, or maybe that is V-day.

The only thing that he posts is about a fake association called A.I.R. and calling me an alt.

No, I don't find it worth my time to read his posts.

Precisely my point... I don't necessarily know or care what he posts about, but you both know about it & know how you feel about it, so feel free to skip the posts when you see his name is the one "credited" with it.

Oh, and please note that there's only one person on my ignore list.

I don't know or care about that either... Just as you probably don't care that I don't believe (honestly not sure) there is anyone on my ignore list... Simply means many probably have more people on their lists than either of us do, so it would affect them more than either of us if someone did the right thing & got rid of them as I suggested previously.

I don't have an idea about anything regarding CHYOO, but Literotica forums don't run in that manner. The moderation done here is very transparent.

Literotica Forums don't really run at all.... For what I've seen, the only updates are done by members. As for the moderation, it is beyond "transparent", which is to say (in truth) non-existent.

even if they did run they couldn't outrun SONIC THE HEDGHOG.

This is a free website which depends on its users to do the work which can't be handled by a single person alone.

As for the non-existent part, it happens here everyday in one forum or the other. Most of it is to remove spam threads and shifting threads to where they belong. The minor things include removing personal email id from posts.

Not all problems are solved and if solved, they aren't fixed immediately. But claiming that no moderation happens here is fallacious.

You have a problem there: Stating fact as opinion.

I'm saying it doesn't happen at all, which is my observation.

Understand I am not saying that about a problem of any kind I mentioned to someone somewhere a week ago & have seen remain un-fixed; It was mentioned several times to Laurel (I remember that specifically; not sure about Manu) over several months going back into at least 2013.

Saying it happens not at all may not be entirely true; However, it is your statement of daily moderation that is completely false.

Un. Buh. Leevable.

I give up. I'll just raise my hands and walk away.

LAUREL! WE NEED A FACEPALM SMILEY!

Whew! I just submitted PRICKLY PAIRS. I'm masochistic today, so it went to LW. But I don't worry because I killed-off the cheaters and let the cheated live HEA. What's there to hate?

Mine has been in for a few days. I have no delusions that I will win with all the other good writers out there, but it was my first story and the exposure it gave me was well worth trying my hand.

Welcome to the madness! :D

Try not to stress too much on your score and vote totals when they start bouncing all over the place before long. Some time after the submissions period is over, the system will begin sweeping what it considers illegitimate votes.

The very last sweep before the announcement of the winners can be especially bone-cutting. Almost everyone's scores go up ( sometimes significantly ) though.

i enter the contests for the exposure. it's amazing how much the Recent Activity page fills up. previous submissions get a good going over, too.

welcome aboard. have fun. :)

oh, and good luck.

I will agree that using action and literotica in the same sentence is like an oxy moron.

The mods themselves in the LIt forums are a toss up. Some-chargergirl and Myrubylips-are active and try to enforce rules, especially chargergirl who spends all day erasing pictures that are not supposed to posted in the open(linked is always fine)

But other mods have not been active in a long time and have probably just wandered off (I do know of one with series health issues)

And the problem is not the mods who have limited "power" and also supposedly can only mod their forum. The problems are in the unmoderated forums because simply put if you want to break the rules and be an asshole in general go to the GB and the AH where there are no mods.

Also the biggest problem is at the top. What people here see as problems, especially harassment of any kind, is their form of amusement.

The site is number one, has been for a long time and I see no competition rising anywhere. The site is fat and happy and making money with no effort so why put any in?

The broken features have been being "looked into" for years. Including top lists where many people go to look for stories, in incest the same authors have had a huge advantage because the all time list has been broken for two years and remains unchanged.

There are features here that do not work and never have, but its too much trouble to simply remove them.

What is not being looked into is "coming soon" in what type of time frame soon is equated with I don't know, dog years maybe.

the only action I have seen taken here is through "shaming" when a thread is started and gets enough attention that it becomes and issue and then something will be done, like not telling people they won something from three years ago and are owed money, that is changed now because it was noted repeatedly and publicly.

Underage story? start a thread to get it taken down, other wise deal with it being here.

rape? I won't bore you all with that again except for the hypocrisy of saying no, you can't do that, but have you seen the non con section:rolleyes:

Lit is like life, there is a lot in it that sucks, but its life and we choose it. So you can keep bitching and be labeled a troll-as I will be because this is a contest thread home of lits two biggest boot licks- or put blinders on and just go about your business and not have the audacity to try to stick up for others or point out things that could make the site better.

We bust your balls for being a troll-and kind of a juvenile one-but I sense the frustration behind your posts, a lot of us feel it.

the ultimate solution? If you don't like it leave, that is the goal here. If you're not a happy lemming, leave.

You and I are fortunate to be men because if we were women our opinions would have earned us rape threats and threats of violence, by the "real men" of lit, the ones the site caters to and embraces.

Hmmm....why doesn't Laurel pick up new moderators as the old ones are unavailable?

As compared to others, I'm relatively new, so I didn't know so many mods were inactive.

I woke up eight hours later and PRICKLY PAIRS is already accepted and favorited! Talk about fast approval! Votes are going all over the place, of course. But I sure am glad that's done. Now I can go back to dithering over which storyline(s) to finish next, or maybe some songs and poems. Forward, into the past!

Finally got my entry in, but was half asleep last night when I submitted it. When I woke up this morning I saw it was already posted, and realized I'd forgotten to delete the two lines I always put at the start of each story (in MS Word) reminding me of the description and tags I plan on using.

Do you think having the tags detailed at the front of the story is something readers won't mind (so they know in advance what style of story it is)? Or would you ask for an Edit to remove them?

Summer Lovin' - Ice Cream Man

It made me want to read it. :)

Putting the tags at the top of the story might be a good thing for all of us to do. Where they are now--at the end--isn't very helpful.

I have just submitted a Contest entry. It's just under 10,000 words.

I didn't think I'd finish it in time, but I've made it. The other two drafts won't be finished for this year.

I think that would be a good idea-the tags-its like a warning without sounding like you are giving one.
