A Poet Walks Into a Bar . . .

I somehow never had much desire to spread moose turds on my food. Even Coleman's moose turds. One must maintain standards.

Not many Moose in Norfolk, although I did encounter a 'Highland coo' with enormous horns, in the middle of the road one night. My mother never would accept that as a reason for being home late!

Nobody would believe a moose ate my homework, either. Oh darn. Then of course there's the subspecies, the chocolate moose. Chocolate moose turds probably wouldn't be so bad. Still, I am not encouraged.

Oh, red card! posting chocolate remarks before ones not holding

I was headed to York but Peppermint Patti convinced me to detour to Hershey, it was dark when we got there so we stopping in for a drink. :D

Chocoholics, huh? Well, take THIS!!

My fave lo-fat lo-cal chocolate drink:

1 heaping tsp baking cocoa, unsweetened
. (but not Nestle -- I boycott the scum)
a splash of liquid vanilla (real is best)
a dash well-ground allspice or cloves
2-3 packets of non-sugar sweetener
10-12 oz boiling water
2 tbsp almond milk

mix the flavorings in an appropriate cup - pour in the boiling water - stir adequately - wait a minute or two for everything to dissolve - add the almond milk - enjoy the 20 calorie treat

Re Nestle: Read about their deadly baby-formula marketing practices.

And remind me to discourse on Veracruz vanilla.

:D

today i bought some cashew nuts. at first i was miffed they didn't have plain roast and salted, only offering sour cream n chives or cheddar cheese n bacon flavours - ew face. still, i bought the s.c&c ones. which were really nice, tasting like ordinary roast&salted ones! had wanted sc&c i would have been gutted.

such was a highlight of my day

I love nuts, I always have some within reach. Cashews, pistachios, walnuts and pecans, I buy bulk and make my own mix. Keep the rest in the freezer.

Love pistachio pesto!

i love 'em too, though they're a little pricey here... buying in bulk sounds a great idea, and i didn't know you could freeze them. never even considered doing so. do they retain their texture/flavours well?

Yes. They're good for a few months in the freezer. And they're expensive here too, unshelled are really expensive, bulk is the only way to go.
