Steubenville Rapist returns to High School Football team

WOW!

Just fucking wow.

No one here is wound up by the law...

No one here seems to agree with the law, but it's meh...

dolf even seems to think our society condones it, but no one asks...

;)

WHO THE FUCK IS RAISING THESE 16 YEAR-OLD FERALS THAT THEY CAN BE OUT DRINKING AND PARTYING???

Are you saying it's the parents fault? If so, whose parents?

Are you saying it's the parents fault? If so, whose parents?

I'm saying that it is interesting, in the light of the countless discussions of abortion where it has firmly been established that no young woman should be held accountable for becoming pregnant, to paraphrase President Obama (as well as most of our more virulent supporters of abortion), "I wouldn't want my daughters punished for a mistake with a baby." I have been admonished, repeatedly, that personal responsibility is not the answer because girls are "victims" of their raging hormones and just cannot control their little selves.

However, it can clearly be seen by the outrage that not only are young men of the same age required to control their urges and hormones, that no punishment is harsh enough or long enough to punish them for the same damned thing and that's because men are not part of the Liberal Pantheon of victims.

So the outrage is not aimed at the law, not at the female victim of unsupervised partying, not at the parents who must be absent in their lives, I can assure you that my child is not allowed to get into situations like that any more that dolf's kids are, but al the outrage falls solely on the young men and their actions. It seems to me to be a double standard of extraordinary proportion. It is unfair to say, parents are blameless, the girl is blameless, whoever provided the alcohol is blameless, but the boys, the boys, must pay for the rest of their lives by ostracization from the community and never again allowed to live normal lives, because they were the only ones actually in control....

It's gonna be quite funny when your "daughter" goes off the reservation.
I'd give it a year...two, tops.
:nods:

9 months is a slap on the wrist for rape.

People usually serve that long for misdemeanors, not felonies.

A girl being sexually irresponsible is equivalent to a rapist? When did sleeping around become a violent crime?

Are you claiming we should be outraged at the female for being raped?
C'mon Chief, not even you would stoop so low.

The other rapist is still in prison. He had his sentence doubled for sending a photo of his conquest via text message.

He made a mistake, and paid for his mistake by serving time.
I don't think he should be permitted to play high school football again, but that's just a personal opinion.

I'm not sure that high school students getting drunk and fucking is rape.

There ought to be something called TeenRape or StarterRape for those deals.

But he's definitely off the team.

Please tell me AJ isn't implying that rape should be legal because abortion is legal. What the hell kind of argument is that?

Boys will be boys.

We got football games to win, gawdamnit!

i know you're being ironic, so nothing personal but this attitude is exactly what makes it hard for me to like football as much as i do. i'm still pissed at the dumbshits that thought michael vick playing better after he came back somehow made up for all the dog killing.

and that big ben cunt. hate that fucker.

irresponsibility is, i infer from Aj's posts, in the ballpark of the girl and her parents - parents who mst be 'absent' from her life if she behaves so outrageously; why he's not blaming the parents of the boys for their hardcore partying and far more outrageous actions i don't know. and (of course  ) a girl can just go get an abortion like a milkshake and never have to think of it again.

I'm with Dolf on this one. I like the auto-restraining order VERY much. That would negate the whole thing, because the offender would be forced into a private school or home school and the victim would feel more secure at school.

They did allow him back to school and they did allow him onto the tear as he did serve his time. It's a sticky situation at best.

This is a positive message for all schools.. why let a horrible crime get in the way of sports?

I don't look at it this way. I look at it as allowing a kid to participate in school activities. He has served his time in jail and is now on probation and will have to meet those requirements. As long as he does this successfully, then why not let him become a part of his peer group? The kid will probably never make it to a major college, but maybe he can go to SOME college and make something of himself. Otherwise you almost assure he will be a criminal for life and he will negatively impact society for years to come.

Most sexual predators have to register as sex offenders upon release, according to Eyer. Had this applied to this rapist, it would have neatly solved everything, as registered sexual predators may not come within X yards of a public school.

For some reason, this guy doesn't have to register for several years or until he's convicted again?

Rob the laws differ in each state and I do not know what it is in Ohio. But the law also states that the State must give each student, that wants it, a free education until they graduate high school. I see your point and it is a very good one but even if he was made to change schools he would still be in a school. When written the lawmakers probably did not consider a situantion like this. But it would be much more expensive for the state to have to pay for his home schooling. Maybe they need to relook at the law, or set up a school for kids convicted of certain crimes.

He is allowed to return to the same social group that enabled his past behavior, and which he will be influencing going forward. Not the brightest idea, but this is the Land of the Free.

Parents of those men involved are irresponsible for not teaching their children that if a girl's drunk or tipsy, she can NOT be touched sexually.

Those in charge of the football program are irresponsible, showing that football trumps all reason. If this person was an average student, I bet he'd not even be allowed in the school!

This is true but he will be much better supervised and under the microscope. To be honest I doubt the kid is able to successfully complete his probation. It is terribly difficult and even more so when you are back with the same group of people.

See?

You guys really did not read what I wrote or you are so locked into a mindset that you cannot overcome it.

Did I create an equivalency of action? No.

Did I talk about a mindset that condones irresponsibility of in targeted victim groups?

Yes, yes I did. And in these replies are the haunting echoes of that mindset.

I asked where are the parents?

Your reply? YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT THE PARENTS OF THE GIRL!

Of course, butters, if you have paid attention to me in the abortion threads, that is one of my continual complaints. We are there for the girl and the short-term fix of abortion to get her life back on track, but we are never there for the long-term ramifications.

As for the other idiots, I am not condoning rape.

I am questioning that if under the conditions that you operate from from the female perspective, that she cannot control herself, what in the name of consistency implies that boys of the same age and under similar unsupervised condition are expected to control themselves? Why are we so concerned that a girl be unaffected by her actions, but so damned adamant that a boy must be held to account to his?

Again.

Here we have it.

It's all about the boys, but nothing about the girls.

She made the same decisions they did, she gets to back to her social group, she doesn't have to "go away" like girls had to do in the 50s, but the call is for these boys to never, ever have a normal life again for giving into drinking and hormones and not one of you has addressed who, how, and why were they at a party drinking unsupervised.

slight tangent...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GVfesRwvsQ

those of you with teens have probably heard of the youtuber fame thing. this guy is pretty flippin' youtube famous. 2.3 million subscribers.
I talk to my kids about sex and consent, as any decent parent does, but it's nice to know they're hearing it from a slightly cooler source.

maybe if those boys had heard something like this, from parents or teachers or whoever, they wouldn't have done what they did. if the boys were telling the truth, if they didn't know that was rape, then whoever educated them let them down badly.

Rape is NEVER the fault of the victim!!! I don't care whether she placed herself into the situation or had drinks. RAPE IS FUCKING RAPE!!

Get your fucking head out of your ass
