Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I never got into any comic book series. I used to get high and watch X-Men cartoons on Saturday mornings. I just enjoy the movies and don't think too much about story archs and timelines and shit.

We basically get down like this also, but y'see, for those of us who ate up comic books for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this new wave SFX age of interconnected franchise superhero flicks actually mattering as real movies that we can critique for consistency, verity and laziness in storytelling is a huge deal. And big fun. :D

I never got really into comics. I read them on occasion, usually the Graphic Novels once they've finished a major arc, watch all the cartoons and movies and occasionally go an brush up a bit but I'm really the proverbial One eyed King in the Land of the Blind when it comes to comic knowledge.

And I can get with that. In fact, I rather like this thread cuz it's like cliff notes for me.

the crappy camrip i watched because i'm broke this week makes me wish i wasn't broke this week. not that it wasn't kind of annoying in more than a few ways (because of geeky stuff but also character motivation seemed at times somewhat... confused), but it wasn't really all that bad either. next week i'm watching all legally and shit because it'll look better and the fuckers cut off apocalypse.

Adam McKay Pulls Out Of Ant-Man Negotiations

Potential Ant-Man director reportedly walks away from the project

After Edgar Wright turned his back on 'Ant-Man', it looks as though Marvel's upcoming movie is fast becoming a dead end… as another director apparently backs out of negotiations.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 46-year-old Adam McKay - director of the 'Anchorman' franchise - has already pulled out from the upcoming 'Ant-Man' film. And while his reasons are unclear, the future of 'Ant-Man' seems to be uncertain.
"Scratch Adam McKay off the list of replacements for Ant-Man helmer Edgar Wright," they said. "Negotiations began with McKay in earnest on Friday but the director abruptly decided against taking the job on the film… The decision is said to be his alone."

Of course, this is the second director to walk away from 'Ant-Man' in as many weeks… and that has to make us wonder - just what is going on at Marvel when it comes to the pint-sized hero?

"Paul Rudd was among those lobbying for McKay to replace Wright, given their rapport from the 'Anchorman' movies and his knack for physical comedy," said The Wrap. "It's unclear why McKay took himself out of consideration."

Having left back on 23 May due to 'differences in their visions of the film' it looks as though Edgar Wright is proving to be a hard act to follow. And after reportedly suffering from some drastic script changes, we can't help wondering about the current state of the script.

Obviously, this present a huge setback for the studio… and after such a high-profile split with Edgar Wright, things just continue to go downhill for poor old 'Ant-Man'. Rumoured to have been the subject of extensive rewrites, I can't help thinking that this speaks volumes about the current script.

Does this mean that McKay was unhappy with the script for similar reasons to Edgar Wright? Has it turned into a homogenised comedy as already suggested by several sources? For now, we'll just have to wait and see.

Marvel's ‘Ant-Man': Rawson Marshall Thurber Is Frontrunner to Direct (Exclusive)

MOVIES | By Jeff Sneider on May 30, 2014 @ 1:51 pm

The “We're the Millers” filmmaker is currently most likely to replace Edgar Wright

Rawson Marshall Thurber (“We're the Millers”) is the frontrunner to replace Edgar Wright as the director of Marvel's “Ant-Man,” multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

Marvel has declined to comment on all speculation surrounding the new director of “Ant-Man,” which the studio insists will make its current release date of July 17, 2015. A representative for Thurber did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ummm…Marvel…guys…it's currently summertime. Y'all should be in the midst of filming shit on location RIGHT NOW.

Shit's gonna turn into an Alan Smithee project at this rate!

honestly, i don't exactly have high hopes ant-man anyway. it's just not a character i ever really gave a shit about.

Normally you shouldn't. Although in the comics, he is a brilliant scientist responsible for creating ULTRON, who will be the baddie in the Avengers sequel next year.

But supposedly they aren't using that canon for the film, as Ant-Man will be released after Age Of Ultron and otherwise we would have seen his character as an intro by now in either The Dark World or Winter Soldier.

It's gonna get made, trust that. But will it be made sloppily and half-assed, is the question.

well, i've heard before that the marvel movies are mostly at least based on the ultimate universe versions of most characters, so that's not entirely surprising. i'll admit i'm not overly familiar with ultimate line because when it first came out i was fairly disinterested in comics and seemed like a pretty obvious cash grab on their part so that didn't exactly help either.

and hopefully if they make it'll at least be decent because so far they've pretty much all been at least okay and entertaining if not exactly great. if it can't be decent i'd rather they just fuck off and let it die.

It was because of the creation of Extremis that Tony was able to get the shrapnel out of his chest without killing him because of Extremis's healing powers. He was the only person who knew how to complete Extremis without making things blow up. So he was able to inject himself with Extremis and heal Pepper Potts from it. So now he no longer needs the arc reactor in his chest to save his life and power the suit. Now its just used to power the suit.

Hmmmm....

Also, almost two months away from Season 2! Can't fucking wait! :D

SAN DIEGO — If anyone had any fear the Avengers might not reassemble at Comic-Con this year, you can breathe easy. The whole gang is here.

The cast are expected to grace the stage of the famed Hall H during Marvel's panel later this evening, but they made an unexpected appearance on the convention floor for a photo opp with fans. Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) didn't make the shot, but Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elisabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Paul Bettany (Vision) did. Plus, they were joined by former S.H.I.E.L.D. colleagues Clark Gregg (Agent Coulsen) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill). Maybe this means Coulsen might return to the big screen?

Marvel Studios also released a new image from "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" featuring Downey and Ruffalo. It's not mind-blowing, but, hey, it's Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.

The Ant-Man in the movie won't be Pym.

I might have to start watching the show, Ming Na is just so freaking hot.

Kyle MacLachlan joins 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' as Skye's father

Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first premiered, the show has been hinting at the identity of Skye’s parents. It’s been an ongoing topic of discussion between May and Coulson, and one that climaxed in the season 1 finale, when Raina handed an unknown person a photo of Skye claiming that she’d found his daughter.

Although we don’t know how he will fit into the context of the show, Skye’s father will definitely enter the mix in season 2. Sources confirm that Kyle MacLachlan has been cast in the role, though there’s no word yet on how long he’ll be sticking around.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m ET on ABC.

Excellent. He does creepy/menacing very well. Curious to see where they go with this.

Musical S.H.E.I.L.D.? I'm fucking down. Every show that lasts more than five seasons owes it to the fans to do a musical. Somehow Jack Bauer has avoided that fact.

Lucky you. We got cap a couple of weeks back, but we have to wait over here until October for the sets :(
