Aussies! Check in here!

Third day of a big rain/cold front, and today we have thunderstorms as well.
I have been a complete pussy and have yet to make my appt with the doc to get my test results (for PsA).
My shingles have finally settled down - thank God for high-dose L-lysine and topical anaesthetic!

On the plus side..... I am going back to school. I've decided to put all my years of needle work and animal care to good use and I am going to train as a vet nurse.
While I can't work atm due to my arm, I may as well retrain so when I finally have my operation and can get back to the workforce I'll not only be ready but can look toward doing something I actually enjoy.

That's a great plan! I hope your health continues to improve.

I've heard the weather is bad over there and in Queensland too......take care Queenie (((((hugggggggggssssss)))) and 's

Good on you for going back to school, you'll be awesome. What is the course and how long?

I'm going to retrain as a vet nurse.
I did many years of piercing, then retrained in Pathology. But due to my elbow I can't actually be a pathology collector as I can't get clearance to stick needles in people to draw blood.
So I will put my skills to use another way :)
Years of animal care helps too.

It snowed here today for a short while. Not sure how long it has been since central Launy had any snow!

And I am sure you have many skills you can put to use ;) he he he

Best of luck with it all Queenie xx

Afternoon all,

Well it has been a wet and windy few days here in the south. Looked like the west coast of Tassie was going to either blow away or go under water which for those who have been there is bloody hard.

Hope you managed to stay dry WQ.

Here in Melbourne town well we had the high winds once again but this time the thunder and lightning show with several waves of hail. Covered part of the front and backyards there was so much of it. Now its just rather chilly. First real cold days of winter and snow in the higher areas and down to 1 or 2 in some of the suburbs. Struggled to get to double figures late last week. When its 8C at 3pm you know its cold.

Comm Games nearly done and I can get back to a normal sleeping pattern. Good thing about not having a job is that I don't need to get out of bed till I'm ready. Aussies did a good job at the Games even with England being at the head of medal tally. Well its like their local games so you would expect them to do well.

Can't say the same for my town.... some flooding, trees down everywhere, houses smashed by the winds....
We're all fine though.

I will be sad to see the end of the games. Been watching when I can't sleep (which is often these days  )

Back to black hair today.... which nearly turned into a complete disaster when the hot water pipe blew!
Ever tried rinsing hair dye out in freezing water? Me either, before today!
Luckily the plumber came not long after and fixed it, so I got to re-rinse in hot water :)

The red hair didn't last long, wq. Any particular reason?
That reminds me... I need to call my hairdresser. I have 2 inches of grey regrowth.

No reason - just felt like a change.
Although....... it could be related to the fact that my therapist and I have been working through a whole lot of stuff, and I may be more screwed-up than I thought I was
Still haven't figured out what 'happy' is.

I can't wait to be grey. My Omi (had)and Mum (has) the most amazing shade of platinum.

And...... then the past rears its ugly head.....
My daughter got engaged a while ago, and excitedly emailed her father (in Chicago) to tell him the news.
He replied yesterday - finally - after she sent yet another query as to why he wasn't replying.
Basically, the whole reply was that she should stop getting her knickers in a twist and cut him some slack :( and right at the end was a P.S. "by the way, congratulations" :(

Needless to say, my daughter is extremely upset.

All along, whenever the kids have talked to me about this I have tried to be neutral when responding to their questions as to why he's so distant. Maybe he's working really long hours. Maybe moving to another country has been more challenging than he expected. Maybe his depression has gotten bad again. Could be any number of reasons. Be patient.

But this response? This I can't, and won't, excuse

Hey WQ:kiss:

Good that you were safe and no damage. It ended here in a big rush then total silence, as if it never happened. Only the hail stones left melting on the ground.

Watching the Comm Games closing ceremony you could be forgiven for thinking Australia hosted the games with that rather long bit from the Brisbane games then Kylie closing the show. A funny ending. But yes there is a hole now late at night. I'll have to retrain my body to go back to a more normal sleeping pattern.

Waiting for the NFL to start in a couple of months.

Afternoon all,

Just got back from a couple of days in Sydney town visiting a friend, although did more walking than I wanted and those damn stairs in the rocks then again Sydney if full of stairs. Not sure how the non-able bodied folks get around especially usually train stations. They are also going down the road of a transport card..... that will be no end of fun. It also seems Melbourne is the last city on the East Coast to get a train link to the Airport.

The weather was warmer than in Melbourne so I got some vitamin D for a few days. And did some house repairs as well.

Back to the winter stuff and the heater again.

Just dropping in on my way through my Favs list on the PC.

BANDIT:heart: has given up on hair colouring & is going natural & still turns me on although I did scare the crap out of her with a massive blood sugar drop:eek:

I went to bed with a blood sugar of 15. something which is high so thought at 5.30am & getting up at 8am so though some quick acting insulin was the go but ended up haveing a major hypo (extremely low blood sugar) & ambos were called because BANDIT:heart: couldn't get me to respond, eat sugary lollies or drink juice.

Ambo put in a drip line in my right arm & started a sugar solution which saw me slowly come back. The only clue I had at first was BANDIT's:heart: voice, a male voice & a female voice then opened my eyes & saw the drip hanging, the 2 ambos & oxygen mask on me, it took a fair bit of thime to come around but eventulaay returned, with me & the bed totally soaked in sweat & feeling very cold.

Ambos asked if i wantd to go to the hospital & I said no as all they do is keep me for hours doing blood teasts then tell me I had a hypo & send me home.

I had some breakfast & shower & all was well again.

Being a diabetic for 40 years has been a wild ride & still having problems controlling it, every time I think I/we have got a handle on it it bites me in the butt again with a suprise event like yesterday, every emotion changes blood surar levels some times higher & other times lower, it's a catch 22 disease.

I'm so thankful to my wonderful loving BANDIT:heart:

Bad enough putting dialysis cannulas in without trying to find a vein to put in a tiny one - Sir Gil has crappy veins

OMG!!! A BANDIT SIGHTING!!!!
(I had a mini orgasm then... hold on a minute while I catch my breath and find a dry seat cushion......;) )

Hair? I have hair.
Well - I have hair on one side.....
My asymmetrical/skrillex cut is adorable :D

How's you? Hiding out from the shite reality shows on fta?
I have recently discovered that Scrubs is funny as hell, as well as a good antidote to insomnia, and have been systematically replacing the blockheads and those awful screeching kids singing overdone pop songs with downloaded episodes of funniness (is that a word?)

The single, celibate, slightly depressed life seems to be making me slimmer.
My doc visit today showed me down by another 3 kg.
I'd say 'good stuff'..... but I don't have anybody to show off to

Anyhoo....... smoochies for you both

Hows life going?

Help me!!!!

LOL the last time I had this type of home destruction was a summer with my former step son's pre school friends lucky I had a huge tarp that basically covered the whole back yard & shoved them all out there to run amok, the BBQ table, seats, swing set, billy kart, ride on toys all kept the inside fairly undamaged I was glad when the last parent left with their little darling full of cake, lollies & red cordial :D they all over dosed on sugar.

WOW My Wonder Woman:heart::heart: has dropped in here too

Dropping in irregularly to say Hi!
Have I mentioned I hate airlines? First Qantas calls me 9:30pm last night to tell me they changed to a smaller plane, and I wasn't good enough to stay on the original so I was being bumped back 3 hrs to a later flight.
The later one finally left over an hour late, after having its 'estimated delay' put back 3 times. I think I'm lucky to arrive before I have to go back again!
Perth - need coffee - STAT.
Grrrrrr!

I don't understand people who say they love travel. Even my irregular trips back to NZ are a hassle with having to wait at Auckland Airport for hours for a small domestic flight to take me to Hamilton. Then there are the delays...the last one was for having to replace a wheel for the flight back to Sydney. I was hoping they'd put it on properly when we came in to land it was a bit bumpy!

Email me a piccy of the hair sounds great might have to try it myself ;)

I am good, still working out when I can (once a week atm but better than nothing). Definitely avoiding screeching "singers" and the blockheads and the fatuous girls on The Bachelor - we have recordings for just such circumstances and the channel gets changed the second the recaps come on the morning shows.

Sad day today we have a funeral to go to, one of Gil's old friends from the crash crew passed last week from the Big C. :(
