Aussies! Check in here!

Stuff the weather, lets talk politics.
Feds can't tell their metadata from a hole in their head,
NSW needed to find something else to beat QLD at, so they chose brown-paper-bag corruption as the special topic
WA still has more aston martins, ferraris and lambos per capita than any other state
The ACT is saying "who?" and trying to hide in case the Chinese miss Clive (not much chance of that)...

Discuss

The weather is much safer ground than politics, besides the fact that politics just gets people pissed off, then again it is said that you get who you voted for so a majority of the population must of liked Abbott and his henchmen, the good thing is that they can always be voted out.

As for the co-payment, talking to one of the pathology practices they are not going to collect the co-payment and the GPs are against it so they don't look like they are going to collect it.

Joe "smoke 'em since I got 'em" Hockey keeps proving he is not in touch with the normal folk. Caught dancing and smoking cigars just before delivering the budget like some political Nero was obviously an insight into the man and his attitude to the people. Now stating that poor people don't drive cars and if they do they don't drive them that far cause they can't afford the petrol. Well its a fact that those on the lower incomes pay more for their petrol overall since they usually have to travel further. If you live in the outer suburbs there isn't much by the way of PT so you really don't have much choice but drive. Not like those living in Toorak and Double Bay who dive a couple of kms in their four wheel drives to go shopping.

Hopefully Abbott and his mates don't make the gap between lower incomes and higher incomes even wider. This business about getting the budget back in the black is rather useless if it makes people worse off. No point having money if you aren't going to use it.

As for he Chinese well it seems recently that they are trying to now buy Australian companies rather than just buying the goods and if you don't play ball they try to get the law onto you. Don't think the Indonesians haven't been looking at Australia with envy. So no money for Defence you can expect our neighbours to make claims on our territories. When I say money for Defence I mean money for jobs not the toys, there will always be money for the toys.

Well another week about to begin and wouldn't you know it the end of the good weather. At least the weekend was nice, well OK Saturday was sunny and warmer that it has been for months. Went to bed with the sound of rain on the roof, but not that nice gentle rain, nope it arrived all at once.

House maintenance on the agenda for a few days but a rest day today playing video games and cooking. New recipe for meatloaf plus I added my own little twist. Not sure how it will turn out.

In order to keep the sugar intake down, started to have scotch with soda, blended scotch of course. The stocks are slowing going down. My form of de-cluttering. You either give it away or drink it.

New tip for when the car is not being used and the birds like to use it as a roost. Put an old sock on the roof of the car and jam it into the door. Stops them sitting and shitting down your glass. Now that the car is stationary most of the time the birds think it makes a nice meeting place. Even not working has its little challenges, some just fucking annoying.

Looking forward to the start of the NFL season in a couple of weeks. Yep more sport to watch.

My son is getting married.

His girlfriend is from a culture that doesn't approve of couples living together so they are going to marry in a registry office so they can take their relationship to the next logical step. It is her father and stepmother who are standing in the way - that and my son not being of their race and religion

He says they will have a "proper" wedding when they would have originally planned to marry :)

She is a lovely girl and I know they will be very happy, as am I :cattail:

Hey Bandit

The things we do for love... so long as they are happy is the main thing. At some point parents need to realise their kids are people and need to live their own lives. The bonus is that you like his soon to be wife.

Afternoon all,

Well two sunny and warmish days in a row in Melbourne town and lots of people out in the sun like lizards. Hello to the wet people in Sydney town hopefully nobody is flooded in the outer parts of NSW...

Worked out I was getting ripped off by the govt rebate on health insurance...so getting that corrected. Saw the new Hercules movie, it was quite good and funny at times. It was also trying to explain some of the fabled stories in Greek mythology. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I thinks its make your own pizza night tonight, haven't done that for a long time. I've even rediscovered anchovies. Lots of hot salami and chilli as well and everything tastes better with melted cheese.

Afternoon all,

Happy Spring or should I say a happy goodbye to Winter although early days yet.
Thought I would attach some early Spring pics. Give it a couple of more weeks and my front lawn will be covered in those lilliums (small bell or trumpet like flowers). The magnolia went nuts a couple of years ago and is now really tall. Nice big flowers and only flowers after all its leaves fall off during Winter.

Spent a little time on the roof today, well actually on two of the three rooves cleaning out plant matter. Found a tennis ball obstructing the down pipe from the carport roof. Would like to say it was kids, but was probably those uni students with time on their hands.

Don't try to get up on the rooves too often, long way to fall plus not getting any younger. Lots of wind today so possibly not the right day for roof walking. May see if I can train a chimp to do that....wonder where I can find a chimp...may need to go to Canberra.

Hope the week hasn't started off to stressful for all.

Must stop saying yes to too many people - late nights - I think I've worked out I need more than 4 hours sleep each night these days!

Friday night....
A glass of wine (or 2, or 3), a good meal, surrounded by family, feeling relaxed.
Hope you're all enjoying yours!

Just popping in to say a quick hello!

Congratulations on your son's engagement, Bandit.

Did anyone see the Southern Lights tonight? I've been sitting out the back freezing my arse off all night waiting to cross it off my bucket list, to no avail.

Is it supposed to be good viewing tonight? I think everyone's too busy watching the football.

The wine was smooth and mellow.
I'm one of those really annoying people that has never had a hangover.... so the head was fine :)

How's you?

pictures from your garden?

just stunning.

thank goodness for spring.

Hey Gem,

Yep from the front garden and now its starting to get colour down the driveway beds as well. The back garden is in a bit of a mess but things are blooming including the roses. And the trick to all this is .....do nothing.

Nope, the only lights I saw were the ones radiating from the TV and the upright lamp in my lounge room. Didn't even know the lights show was on although given I live close to the city I doubt I would see much.

Well may be cross out the line on your list related to the lights and add in 'sitting in garden freezing my ass off'...just need to go for goals that are easier to reach :D

Afternoon all,

Spent a couple of days chopping or should I say trimming some branches from the stupid tree growing over my front fence line from the street. I can now at least mow right up to the front hedge without having to dodge branches. I think I need to do surgery on the remaining bits.

Waiting to do some maintenance painting once the weather warms up a bit, mornings down in Melbourne town are still a little on the cool side, nice sunny afternoons though.

Good to see more people posting on the thread.

Hope the weekend went well for everyone.

Urk..... you sounding so busy in the garden is reminding me of all that has to be done here
I still haven't trimmed the roses back and now have hips (not wanting to waste them, I've justified not pruning by saying I will make jam).
Still a bit too cold here anyway.....
