There's really no point assigning blame at this point. There will be plenty of time for that kind of thing later.
The real problem is paying this month's rent on the server farms and some long term debts beyond that. Lit is in deep shit and if checks aren't cut by the first of the month, some parts of the world will no longer have access to Lit forums, stories, etc.
In the short term, and maybe for the foreseeable future, Lit will monetize a long neglected asset. Your privacy is up for sale. We don't mean any of that Google/facebook/Yahoo nonsense about selling your likes and clicks to retailers. We mean blackmail and extortion.
Literotica holds a tremendous amount of information in the form of pm's and photographs. The photos aren't worth a lot, but there are quite a few Litsters who signed up many years ago and created an Ampics thread, never dreaming that a decade after they forgot their password, they would be running for Congress. We haven't forgot and we have the pics.
One of the reasons Lit is in financial trouble is the money spent to develop a powerful algorithmic computer program to analyse Lit users. At the time it was pitched as a way to tailor Lit to the individual and give a better online experience. It turned out to work very well. One of the chief features was the ability to present a different front page to different users. The program monitored which threads were clicked, how long they were viewed and response posts. Users who spend all their time on political threads, see more political threads. Chronic cyber adulterers see mostly threads started by desperate lonely women.
This kind of information is what allows us to put the squeeze on Lit members. We aren't going to be greedy. We don't want to kill the goose. We want to keep it laying eggs, day after day. The extortion rates will be based first and foremost on ability to pay. This may become an embarrassment to some Litsters who have tried to appear more affluent than they actually are.
Married men who have been carrying on with married women will be granted the lowest rates, simply because the volume is so great. Married men who are carrying on with married men will get the same rate, provided one of them is pretending to be a woman.
There will be a 5% surcharge for all members of the clergy.
It's obvious that not everybody has a secret worth protecting, and we have taken that into account. For those people, we offer you a chance to get in on the deal. They can preregister for our Litweasel program. Litweasels will receive 35% of all extortion revenues taken from lit users they lure into compromising situations.
Some of you can be expecting a pm with a summary of the information collected and list of charges. If you don't get pm, don't think you are off the hook. We are watching.
