Ten fucking years!!! It’s nice to see a woman get the book thrown at her for raping a kid but damn, let’s be honest here, the only time you see sentences of that magnitude for one rape victim in a nonviolent case like this, are for black men. She got a bigger sentence than the Steubenville duo combined (2 years apiece) plus the guy who hacked and exposed the Steubenville rapists (5 years).

A 36-year-old Florida woman has been sentenced to prison after admitting she had sex with her friend's 12-year-old son.

Joy McCall, who has children the same age as the victim, was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison, with 134 days credit for time served, according to the Ocala Star Banner. She pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a child.

The Marion Oaks woman was arrested in February after the victim told a friend at church that he'd been having sex his mother's friend. The boy's confidant told his mother, who contacted the victim's mother.

The victim's mother checked her son's text messages and found a conversation of a sexual nature between the boy and McCall, who is three times his age. The messages culminated in McCall sending the victim a photo of herself in her underwear, according to WCJB.

I don't think what she did was legal. She deserved prison time. But 10 years is way above what even a lot of MEN receive for the same act. This is on the level of the kind of statutory rape sentence they'd hand down to black men, not white women.

My first thought was "ha ha, looks like she got the negro treatment" but that only cheers on unfair sentencing. If 10 years in the slammer is the just punishment for this then it should be what everyone gets. I'd wholeheartedly go for throwing someone in the hole for 10 years for raping a kid in a heartbeat - but my entire point here is that it has to be that way for everyone, men, women, black, white, rich, poor... and don't let anyone interpret what I say in any other way.

No way this was anything like rape. If the kid hadn't been desperate for it, his dick wouldn't have gotten hard. It was more like an act of mercy.

Incidentally, if you want "equality," the kid should have been prosecuted too. He's also guilty of conspiracy to commit statutory rape.

You think three years in prison is a joke? You should try it sometime. A week is an eternity, and then there is the strong possibility of murder.

I agree, the criminal act should be treated the same regardless of gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, etc. and 10 yrs for statutory rape is fine in my book. I would caution though that false allegations of rape should also be punished severely.

To say the child in any abuse situation is somehow also equally responsible is absurd at best.

What happened to me as a child still effects me now, as a 44 year old adult, and probably will the rest of my life. I have no problem with an abuser having their punishment for the crime effecting them the rest of theirs.

One thing my stbxw convinced me of (she's a lawyer), don't give vermin like that (child abusers, rapists, etc.) the death penalty... give them general population.

Not knowing any details, which are none of my business, I strongly suspect that your experience was a great deal different than this kid's. In your case, the perpetrator probably should have been shot out of hand.

It's the law's "one size fits all" approach that bothers me here.

One of my great-grandmothers was married when she was 12. When she was 14 she had a kid of her own. One of my aunts was married when she was 13 and had a baby 6 months later. Neither one of them considered themselves particularly abused.

Once again it's the State deciding arbitrarily what is appropriate for every individual regardless of the situation.

I've never been able to avoid drooling, and that is kind of a give-away.

Well, once I did, because she was 24 years older than me and I hadn't really considered her as a viable candidate. Of course it didn't require a great deal of effort on her part to convert me. So she got what she wanted and I got what I should have had enough sense to want in the beginning.

Ah, the good old days...she used to drive over to my place very early in the mornings, screw my brains out, cook breakfast for me, and go home.
