I would like to take exception to the phrase too smart for your own good. Wouldn't this phrase only imply if your smart but just not smart enough. For example if your smart Enough to say start the timer on an atomic weapon but not smart enough to disarm said atomic weapon when your within the blast radius.

Otherwise how can you be too smart for your own good. Let's take it to another more realistic example as none of us is a 90s action hero. So your at school and your bored as class moves too slowly so you start doing things to entertain yourself like create a catapult out of a paperclip. However, while you were smart in earning this free time and Mcguyvering up a catapult out of ransacked school supplies your not smart enough to choose a a prime target. You choose the prissy bitch who is going to rat you to the teacher and get you detention. Not the cool and mysterious loner who will then instigate a war with the trebuchet he made out of a pencil and rubber band. Who would then go on to insight an epic siege war between your two desks.but you see now you have something to talk to the cool loner about and can approach him. This of course leads to babies and happiness in the future.

I therefor move to strike the phrase too smart for my own good from use and replace it with just not smart enough for my own good.
