We're planning another photo shoot sometime this summer when she comes back to Ocala. We've discussed ideas and should produce something really great. Of course I'll share the best images with you all. :)

I'm taking an awful lot of photos of live band performances lately and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I mean, I always enjoy the practice, but I'm not making any money at it and all the photos eat a lot of storage space on my system. It's better than not shooting anything, I guess. :)

I'm pretty sure I haven't shared these on this thread, but forgive me if these are duplicates.

What your very talented eye catches through your lens to share with the rest of us is simply breathtaking. I stop by often to look long and thoughtfully at your pictures — and there seems to be something new to contemplate every time. Thank you so much for sharing these here!

Some favorites of a model I worked with on South Beach a few years ago. We met for this shoot after a few emails and during the encounter she explained that she was a plus-size model. I was still fairly new to working with professional models, so I was taken aback by this news. To me, she was just a hot latin model, but in the modeling industry, she is too big for typical modeling work. Ridiculous.

Thank you very much for the kind words! I do appreciate them. :)

Just happened to stumble across the thread and wanted to compliment your photos! Spectacular! :)

And I was just getting into bed and happened to stumble across your comment. :) Thank you! There's lots more where those came from....

Great stuff. I like to check in here now and then and learn some things!

I'd really like to make a new video, but I can't think of an original concept. Anyone have an idea for a self-shot video I can produce for all of you?

Well, please do post more! :)

I called in my SO to view your pics - he's an enthusiastic amateur photographer. We both love how you handle light play in your black and white photos. Beautiful stuff.

I thank you again! He should share some of his work in the non-erotic photo thread. In fact, I think everyone should share more photo on that thread—I get tired of trying by myself to keep it alive with new photos.

I have a long way to go! ... And maybe another light source would be handy for adding some depth..

Don't do that!! I bought a very expensive studio light kit in hopes of getting better pictures through more light, but I learned that the best (and only) way to add depth to a two-dimensional image is with light and shadow, and the only way to get shadows is by restricting at least some light on your subject. I've since found that I can get amazing results with only a single light source. Experiment!

I have been having a lot of fun with just a flash and some hard shadows, but I really like your shots against the window, and I thought you had a self portrait which looked like you had a light on either side (and maybe a little bit back?) And really liked the effect. That said, I have been contemplating that light for months and still haven't bothered...... If it was really pressing I'd have likely pulled the trigger already!

I see you haven't lost your touch Phil .. what wonderful photos. I particularly like the ones on the beach: the compositions are terrific, and the black and white makes them quite dramatic.

Cheers,
Vanessa

Okay, I will admit that sometimes you can add some pretty interesting effects with two side lights. In the shot I think you're talking about, the lights were to either side of me, facing slightly away from the camera to spill onto the backdrop paper. The centerline of my figure was nearly dark in shadow while the sides were brightly lit. If you're going to experiment with this technique, I suggest using some kind of light modifier to contain the spill to just your scene—if it bounces around the room, it will ruin the shot by filling in all the dark areas. High ceilings help a lot.

Thank you very much, Vanessa! I was just browsing your thread this morning. How is it you remain so classy and beautiful?
