it isn't that I hate this site but I hate waiting for days for my story to get put on here so I wanted to know of other places on the web I can write some erotica to get practice.

I'll just edit this as the poster under me is right and it wouldn't be very nice of me to keep the link on here.

There are, depending on your genre, but there's sort of a rule against advertising competing sites on here. If you think about it, you'll probably see that that makes sense.

elliquiy.com has a good reputation and a lot of very friendly people. They do have a rather lenghty approval process but I'd say it's worth it.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the OPs post.

So, waiting three to five days, a little longer during contests, is too long. If you want immediate gratification you are probably out of luck...although there is one place I know that will post your story immediately...too bad that the rules here prohibit me from posting a link.

A couple of days isn't that long to wait. Beside, this site sees more traffic than any other free erotica site. If you want to get your feet wet, this is the place.

Hullo new poster :)

I mention Smashwords and Amazon Kindle in this blogpost, and how to publish on them BUT I SAY LITEROTICA IS THE BEST.

There are other freebie sites. I looked at a couple but the couples bouncing up and down in the gifs down the sidebar were quite often distracting me from the stories I was trying to read, so I just came back here.

Have a good time on the board, don't post in Loving Wives unless you have a very advanced sense of humour. If people are weird to you on here, that's prolly cuz they are weird. Nevertheless they will give you good answers to real writing questions.

For those who can't wait, a perfect option exists for instantaneous publishing: one's own blog. Of course, nobody else will read it, but that's the trade-off.

I sent a PM to the OP with details on a few other sites. I can send the info to anyone else if they're interested. Just let me know.

Lit is the best place to post by far.

I've been at this off and on for years. Many of the sites that posted member stories are long gone. Of the sites that post faster, I have found that the overall story quality was not very high. Many of the stories on those sites were literally unreadable. (Is that an oxymoron?) My guess is the bad quality stems from the lack of a true review before posting.

Unless you have a terminal illness, consider the wait here on Lit as short. If you are looking for instant feedback, consider this. Many of the initial responses/votes you will get are either knee jerk reactions to the porn quality of the piece, or will be from readers that slam and 1 bomb everything. This applies to every site that allows voting/comments/ratings.

My recommendation is to be patient. If you have a story in the queue, start outlining another one that takes you in a different direction than the story you just submitted. You will learn more by doing that than any number of arbitrary vote scores and comments.

This is that "sort of" forum rule about using the forum to promote other story sites:

6. Any post or PM made with the intent of promoting another site or a product will be removed. Spam is strictly forbidden. You may not send unsolicited PM's or emails to other users trying to promote other websites or products. Literotica is not a place to promote other websites, and we are very strict on this issue. If you abuse this policy, you will be banned. If you persist, your ISP will be contacted.

That noted, I haven't really seen Literotica being at all strict about this. A few years ago, a regular poster launched a campaign right on the forum to encourage Lit. authors to switch to another site--and she's still posting to the forums.

I know how urgent our stories are to each of us, the time and effort it took to write should be immediately rewarded by instant and multiple 5 star votes.

But, I am glad that there is someone checking the stories, even if just scanning them. I would hate for the site to come under fire because someone put in kiddie porn or snuff porn or something else that would be the last straw for some agency or official that decided to make it their business to hound the site out of existence. Or come after the site owners.

well I was wondering is there any way I can post a story on this site, have other read it, and then after they have read the entire story put it up for submission to literotica's main page?

Not really. You can ask for readers to read it off line, but the only place the Web site wants you to have stories posted to the Web site is through the formal submissions and selection system. They reserve the right to control what is posted to the Web site (some issues are not permitted) and they can only do that if you submit through the established process.

Some of the other sites are harder to get on, have limited amount of uploads without a paid membership, but you isually have instant posting on some, because no one reviews the story beforw it's posted. I stopped other sitesbor atempthing to, as this archaic site is the best. A lot of other sites are actually in a word filter, one poster sent me links in code just so they would not be www.........com once sent. No that wasn't a site I just wrote either.

If you are concerned that your story may not be well received, or that you would appreciate constructive criticism before posting a final draft, what you can do is submit it as is, let readers look at it, advertise in the Story Feedback forum for others to read and critique it, and then, after all that, you can submit an edited version in the original's place. Quite a few people do that around here, and submitting an edited version is pretty painless.

Sort of. If you have cloud storage, you can post a link to your text in a message in one of the story discussion threads. Some adventurous souls may read and comment. I use Dropbox, and this tactic has worked for me, to my benefit. YMMV.

You can also post a thread in the Editors' board, asking if anyone would be willing to edit your story for you. Then you would have had a read, and some - usually good quality - feedback, before you put the story up here.

You could private message a few individuals whose opinion you respect and some of them might be willing to give you a review, but my guess would be that would take longer than Lit. approval. Also ,there is the theme of many stories, especially those by Bradbury: "Be careful what you ask for."

My Literotica profile links to my profile on another site where I do all my first-run writing. I asked Laurel herself if that was acceptable, and she said yes.
