How to report a user for abusive PM?

Hi,

I did try to search for this but couldn't find anything. I have received an abusive PM for no apparent reason so I was wondering if it's possible to report the sender?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Putting Rainshine on ignore so she can't pm you will also cut down on the abusive pm's you receive.

You'll see a small red triangle in the lower left hand corner -- it's the report button. They are on all posts too.

But definitely put Rainshine on ignore, she's trouble from the word go. I have suspicions about Miles Long too but that's just me.

but I have them on posts and messages as well. The mouse-over for it says "report post" (or presumably message in the other case.)

Definitely report it if it's enough to inspire your post. That's the only real way of drawing the proper attention to a thing like that.

I dont think abusive is something I would laugh at.
I wouldnt post such PM in public either, if its really abusive it may deal with matters I would rather not openly show to everyone.

Delete the pm and put the person on ignore. Done and done. Responding or other attention just gives them what they want.

The one time I inquired to a mod about the exact thing, I was told to block them.

Not only the first abusive PM I've recieved, but also the first time I've added anyone to my block list. Only took 14 years...

people keep saying it's a red triangle but mine looks like this

I think whatever it looks like depends on your forum settings. In any case for posts it's directly above the

button/ beneath the screen name, AV and other info. All over there on the left.
I'm not sure WHERE it is on a PM (and I'm feeling too lazy to go look) but it will be the same icon.

I definitely vote for reporting creepy stuff. Just blocking it or ignoring it doesn't really do anything to begin solving the problem and some of these folks are chronic problem children.

Just go to the HT Cafe and post about them in the asshat thread.

In lieu of that, ignore said asshat, if they can't get a rise out of you, they'll eventually leave and go on to other victims. This doesn't mean that you don't report an asshat to the admin, just that you will be able to vent and "out" the asshat to everyone else.
