Is everyone going to be shy?

This thread has had a fair amount of views and no replies. . . can someone be brave and honest?

It helps my writing and my muse. Writing off of someone else's work is a lot of fun. And the sexual component just adds to it. But if the plot is right, every post forces you to think and write and improve.

I dunno if it's about being shy. Scuttle started a thread called Interview with a Writer and a lot of the questions in his survey cover this ground a bit. I think maybe everyone feels like it's kind of been exhausted but I can understand the curiosity, so I'll toss in my thoughts. Personally, I like writing board roleplay in general and this just kind of happened to be where the dice landed. I guess the RP comes first, and the S is really just an afterthought. I'm an adult, and I like to poke at things. This format is a good way to do that. It's challenging and dimensional.

Hi, pretty Lily! :rose:

I started writing a couple of erotic stories a while back but I found I got bored. Once I knew what was going to happen, writing it all down didn't add very much excitement. With SRP, I never know exactly what's going to happen. I like the challenge as a writer of being able to improvise in response to what my partner did, and I find the story as a whole much more arousing when I don't know what's going to happen.

I write a lot for my job, but there's not much room for creativity. So it's also a way to stretch my writing muscles, which I like. In that way, it's kind of like having a work-out buddy. You can go to the gym yourself, but it's usually more effective to have someone who can push you to work harder. A good writing partner inspires me to improve my writing, and whatever I do, I always want to get better. If I'm just writing by myself, it's easier to be lazy.

I like SRPs because writing is usually a very solitary, lonely outlet. There isn't much interaction with others, and while it is easy to get lost in a world I've created, it's nice to have another's thoughts, feelings, and ideas around, too. The "S" is always a secondary component for me that just adds a touch of humanity and realism to the story.

Waves to the beautiful Lily.

Good to see you around, sugar.

Yes, it is silly/goofy fun, isn't it? And yet, it's a challenge, too. I agree.

Hi, pretty Lily! :rose:

Thank you for tossing in your thoughts. I'm familiar w/ his thread and with Inside The Actor's Studio (adore). I love good interviews about people. But, I really just had 1 question to ask. And I agree. . .as most people in this thread seem to be saying. . .it's a fun challenge. I guess I was just wondering why I was drawn to this. . . and if other people felt the same way. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts/experiences!

Interesting, BY. I don't write a lot for work, but I've been writing in some form . . . I guess for most of my life. I think it's part of how I process life. I can relate about a good writing partner. . . I try to write with someone who I admire so that I'm challenged. It's the same way that I always will workout next to a runner vs. a walker! Thanks for contributing to the convo.

That right there. The 'S' barely plays a part in what I write. It can actually be a distraction. Of course, I've gone into this in the other thread.

Also LILY!

--I haven't written enough for sex to be a distraction, but I definitely love thinking about the characters before you start writing. Perhaps it's the same reason that I will re-watch a movie I love and listen to DVD commentary by writers/directors/actors. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

-Seems to be a common theme. . . S is secondary. Yeah, I think it's just fun to tell a story! That's what we all did as kids with our siblings or little buddies . . . and maybe that's why I like it. It's adult play.

Thank you everybody for taking the time to share your thoughts. I thought I was the only one who felt this way as a newbie!

I was incredibly lucky my first time out on a SRP to have an incredible partner who really clicked with me. The writing was fun, creative, compelling and the mix of intimacy and anonymity was a head trip.

I don't think I would be as creative on my own -- or have half the fun.

I agree, the right "click" is important and feels miraculous when you find it! I've been very fortunate, too, for the most part. Part of the fun is the spontaneity. I know we're writing sexually themed stories, but it reminds me back to childhood when you were creating stories as a child. It's fun to do that again.

Thanks for sharing your impressions, Tmmmbrr!

Honestly it is a wonderful escapism. You can be anywhere do anything. Look like anyone. What is not to love?

Personally I started with RPs that had no sex on them, or almost none. It certainly wouldn't have been part of the planning process.

I started writing sex when I came to lit and I have never looked back. I have been blessed with some amazing writers when I was still writing. These women could bring me to tears, make me pant like a dog on heat. One or two of them really had my number. I knew that writing with them would be difficult because they were so adept at pushing my buttons that I was always too turned on to think straight.

That is a couple of reasons.
