This year is a little different as we're delaying our Mothers Day till my Mum gets here in a week.
Then we'll have Omi (my Mum), Nonna (me), the chicka (my daughter who is also a Mum) and the chicklet together :)

We'll do a lunch with my boys and the chicka's hubby.

What are you doing?

Same thing I do for her Birthday. Quietly ignore her. It's the polite thing to do. I see my folks twice a year (if I'm single) and less if I'm not and we all pretend like we wish we saw each other more. It's actually a lovely arrangement.

Mum died a long time ago, but I am going to bake a cake today for the Queen and then have Princess decorate it.

:)

I'm making dinner for the family, if all of us show up. Leg of lamb, with potatoes(cooked in some way that I haven't decided yet), and vegetables - whatever looks good at the farmer's market.

I'm leaving her alone. I got her some of her favorite flowers sent to work, and the kids made her a photo collage. She's got some medical tests on Monday so she has to fast tomorrow so there will be no brunch.

As for me, the kids and I are taking off for a mini vacation.

Taking her to see The Lion King, followed by an early dinner.

Nothing. Partly because she died a couple of years ago. And partly because the family always observed 'Mothering Sunday' which is the Sunday before Passion Sunday - which of course varies each year with Easter. Mothers Day is modern invention - a commercial 'fixed' day because the retailers didn't like the variable date of the Christian tradition. It was also pushed well away from Easter to avoid confusion of the two markets.

The treditional Sundays in order were (I think) Mothering Sunday, Passion Sunday, Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday.

I am going to be celebrating my mom tomorrow and smiling at the memory of her grace, inner beauty, over abundance of generosity and her gift of being the best role model I could have ever asked for.

I miss her so, so, so much.

Mom's spending Mother's Day with the East Coast Downsouth contingent this year. She was fussing about not having an outfit to wear so I got her "a perfect outfit" (her words) to wear out to lunch.

Every once in a great while I manage to do exactly the right thing. :D

My brother and I go to the folks and get the yard ready for summer. We clean up the patio and put up the canopy, sometimes organize the garage. Basically do any chores she wants done. This was established when we were kids. I skipped it a few years ago when we weren't getting along, and I feel indifferent or anxious every year since. This year I'm more indifferent.

Mom's been gone 10 years. I miss her.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you have some good memories.

My Mom....
It doesn't matter what I plan, she will find something to complain about. It doesn't matter what I buy her, she will want it exchanged. So whatever I come up with at the last minute is it.

My mom has been gone 21 years. Today I will take flowers to her grave and her mom's grave, too.

Tomorrow will be for my kids to celebrate Mother's Day with me.

So many have lost their Mums....... :rose:
I am blessed to still have mine.

I woke up to find a pair of Ugg boots next to my bed! Badly needed as I have just moved back to the cold.
Went to the kitchen to make a coffee, and found the palest pink cyclamen next to the kettle! I love cyclamens. Actually, I love any plants that flower with unusual shapes and textured foliage (prefer them to a bunch of flowers that won't last.)

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums here
