Taste of Taboo

So a conversation got my wheels spinning, so I figured I might let the gears turn here.

Taboo. Right? That edge of what is acceptable, inexcusable, filthy, vulgar, divine, enthralling, and ultimately... shockingly arousing.

But we are all different of course. Each of us have different limits or boundaries of what we consider "taboo". Even now, many participate in what used to be considered outrageous but is acceptable to most. Tomorrow's taboos may be spinning into form as we speak.

And so I ask... what is your limit? What shocks you in a way that gets the blood flowing?

What is your taboo?

Victoria can keep her secrets for all of me.

But, rowr. White dress. Long braids twisted up to keep them out of the way. Light saber optional.

Oh yeah!

Who's your daddy?!

*gulp*

Never mind.

I like the Sade version.

If I was younger, with a different partner, a wife swap would be my favorite taboo, especially if it was a long, drawn out deal with weeks of flirting and flashing and groping before the actual deed was done.

I just read an article about the top gun WW2 pilots who would arrange "key parties" to swap wives before going out on a dangerous mission.

Hmmm, did I just see a plot bunny hop by?

I can't really think of any act between consenting adults that would shock me sufficiently. So I guess non-consensual is my taboo, along with snuff. I can't imagine rape and/or murder losing their taboo status.

Edited to add: I took the question to be about what we consider beyond acceptable, not what is beyond discussion in polite company, maybe I misunderstood. To be clear, rape and/or murder don't do anything for me, both are abhorrent. I guess to me there's not much middle ground between perfectly acceptable behaviour and utterly verboten.

I suspect that the 'author' was misinformed (except for some very rare occurrences):
Most of the pilots were single.
Key parties were really late 50s & 60s fun.

For me it is incest which sexually is still in my eyes the ultimate taboo(although sex with an animal I would consider going further, but in mo sexy way for sure)

But with me the taboo is emotional over physical. That concept of loving the one person in the world you shouldn't-and what does it for me is siblings because I can see ways it can happen parent child is beyond my comprehension, siblings are peers a parent is a parent.

But the idea of a brother/sister slowly coming to terms that they are attracted and finally crossing the line sexually which leads to furthering that taboo love. The idea of siblings running off to start a life together where no one knows them does it for me.

aside from that I can say nothing shocks me and although there are things that get me "hot, especially in the lifestyle, there is nothing that strikes me as taboo. I had my first Mistress when I was 17 and my first sub by 19 so I think I'm just jaded.

Taboos in my life, or taboos in my writing? Different birds, whose flight paths sometimes cross. What I may consider personally repulsive, like coerced sex via power asymmetry, may be worth exploring in fiction or essay. And I may engage in some sexual activities, but I would never write about them, for reasons of my own. (Revealing and explaining such would be my taboo.)

Is that coy enough?

I'll read almost anything. I'll do almost nothing. I'll write about some of it.

I've killed; last year I met my youngest sister for the first time, and I'd fuck her if the opportunity came along; I've done so many things I cant think of any challenges.

I don't play animal abuse or cruelty, I don't fuck people over because I can, I eat what I kill. I wont steal your money but I will fuck your wife.

Ah the westermarck theory in action. Siblings who were seperated stand a strong chance of being sexually attracted to each other when reunited.

I was in Vietnam when she was born. She spent her life in California, I live in Florida. Hell, one grandmother lived in town and I never met her at all.

Here's where I got it from. Could very well be a swinger advocate rewriting history to suit his TABOO agenda. :D

Well, with the pilots based on Pacific islands or in China ... I wonder who the 'wives' were?

Now British, Luftwaffe, Soviet, Italian and, near the end, Japanese pilots were flying out of their own countries to protect their own cities and factories. They conceivably would have their wives near their bases and could do that sort of thing.

As silly as it sounds, my taboo probably is, and always has been, uninhibited women. While far from being socially outlawed, it's still frowned upon in many circles and discouraged in the general populace.

We take a pencil and draw a line for women and call it "strong" or "daring", "adventurous" even, and encourage girls to jump over it. In fact, if they don't, we call them mousey or prudish. A little further out, we take the erasure end and make a nearly invisible mark with the things that go unwritten, the rules unspoken, we call this line "whore" and "slut" and "bitch". They mustn't cross this, ever.

I tend to fall instantly for women who walk as far as they'd like, head straight, and back loose, without ever looking down.

Here I think I can agree with you. I wouldn't go so far as to say an "uninhibited" woman is taboo to me, but I've been down that road with several and sometimes they just make you think "holy shit." It's some of the things they are willing to do in the bedroom that can be... not so much shocking as hellishly naughty. Someone who can walk that line, jump over it, disregard it, or invent a new one is someone that's just a whole lotta fun.

And bipolar-manic.

Anticipating this line of reasoning, the swinger advocates say some of the more financially secure pilots could afford to move their wives to accommodations near the base. I prefer to believe it, if only for the entertainment value.

Now that I think of it, I suppose thr better question would be for taboos in RL, taboos in general, not necessarily of those we read and write.

I mean as far as taboos go for me in writing, there's not too much I wouldn't read or write. I mean it is fantasy.

But assume for a moment you were THERE. What are your boundaries and what would push them outward? That kind of "look over both shoulders" or "fuck I was drunk" thing.
