I had this idea but it's nowhere near rounded enough for me to begin working on it and I'm already torn between four other stories in their early stages.

Basically some stupidly wealthy couple pay to have Bernini's statue of Apollo and Daphne stolen so they can add it to their private collection. Then, for some yet to be figured out reason, the statue comes to life and the couple are drawn into a four-way with the soft white flesh of marble animated, twigs and leaves included.

I like the idea that in the centuries since its crafting Apollo has seduced Daphne and they're just waiting to get nasty with some unsuspecting mortals.

Great idea - reminds me somewhat of Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned as well, of course, as countless Greek myths.

A sort of pornographic Pygmalion.

Yeah that's what I liked about the idea, that it drew on the original idea behind the sculpture but reversed it. I just can't think of a way to expand the story and without a little more I fear it'll end up like a softcore sci-fi b-movie. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The queen of the damned is about a vampire that stillws themselves until it seemed that they were a statue.

Contrarily, in Greek myth, it was common for a God to personify any effigy of themself, so this makes perfect sense to me.

Gods did this for two reasons, one out of respect for tributes (to show their happiness), the other for anger and revenge. It was common for the gods to be drama queens.
