Marvel: The Mutant Outbreak (OOC)

Yep! Just came back a month ago. So. That leaves what character type you need filled? Female combat, healing/gentle soul or mind based player.

i was thinking similar to danzo ability Izanagi from naruto

Maybe if you use it the way he did instead of using it properly. Danzo is wicked OP and if he'd realized that instead of using Izangi as extra lives and instead used it as extra shots he would have beaten Sasuke. Or if it has some serious limitations on how quickly it can be fired off.

On a side note we should do a Naruto SRP. I'd be more than happy to host that, we had one before but didn't get very far.

One who wears spandex, preferably with a boob window, high heels and can say yes in at least nine languages but prefers "Body Language" (We've already got a girl who can say yes in like seven languages) and likes me more than Jeff. Or Knight. Or Creo or Wyldfire (especially Wyldfire).

I do not know who you are but you've officially made it high on my list. :) Now I have to make sure I getcha!

Either or, though how much contact we're gonna have with villains that doesn't include pounding them into paste might be minimal.

Glad to see there is still room! I wasn't sure if there was a roster somewhere of all the heroes already in use but I've started writing something up for X-23. With the outbreak of mutants and powers happening recently though it might not make sense for her to be a clone depending on what Wolverine's background is.

If every female who has shown interest actually becomes active in the IC, we may have more women than men, which is better than the alternative :). So, whoever Dormy plays is gonna be Isiah's ball-cushion, Creo is playing Mary Jane, but since she has her own apartment and a job she is likely older than Peter and not the girl next door, plus I think a while back she was discussing having her go with Venom, I think. Jennifer is a lawyer so she is likely 7-10 years older than Peter. Soo.... I guess it depends on who the other girls play as to who ends up being Spidey's love interest ;). If nothing else, I might bring in Gwen Stacy as an NPC and just play my own romance for now, LOL.

Well prior to this there were no mutants. . .though officially in Marvel there weren't any mutants until like the sixties and then Wolverine proved that to be bullshit and depending on the telling Apocaylpse proved that mutants are damn near as old as humans. It's amazing there are no mutant chimps.

I was debating bringing Wolvie in, but if I do, he won't have had any power prior to the outbreak. My idea was that he used to be a pro boxer and was quite popular back in the day, but has since become a washed up has-been. He now works as a bouncer at a shady club, lives in a trailer, drives a beat-up truck, and is a bit of an alcoholic and cigar smoker.

If you are playing X-23/Laura Kinney, you could say she is his estranged daughter, and but she comes to him for help when she becomes a mutant. Then she inadvertently gives him.the virus and because of their blood relation they have similar powers or something. What did you have in mind for her?

In official Marvel, there are mutants on multiple worlds and they are the result of the Celestials' experiments. En Sabah Nur, AKA Apocalypse, was one of the first discovered after the Celestials, Eternals, Deviants, etc. were all gone.

Well my current thinking is to keep with her original weapon-x background to a degree. She would have essentially been raised like a child-soldier by either a private military organization or some off the rails but highly classified government program with very little oversight. Then once the mutant outbreak began they would have gone all mad scientist and purposefully exposed her to the mutating agent before giving her claws a fresh coat of adamantium. She could be in the city on a mission, perhaps sent to kill another hero/villain, when her handler is killed or taken out of the picture and she is left to fend for herself and recover from the brainwashing.

It's all pretty rough right now though, things don't really coalesce for me until I start writing them down. So if anyone has any ideas I'd love the help.

Hmmm... We should keep some sort of relation between her and Logan intact since their powers are so similar. One idea is that she is from the future and is still a clone of him. Another option is that maybe he knocked up a girl back when he was famous and never knew it. Either the mother died or worked for the government or whatever. Somehow she ended up as this child-soldier, either by her mother or by being abducted as an orphan.

The other option is to change Wolvie to be like the Winter Soldier. He was a brainwashed HYDRA operative but broke free twenty years ago and didn't realize they cloned him. Sean, maybe Isiah is the one who helped free him? If we do this, then Wolverine would he a super soldier instead of a mutant, and so would Laura. But this lets you have her as a clone, and maybe when Isiah sees her and figures it out, he sends word to Wolverine who shows up. Or maybe Wolvie follows the scent and finds yet or something.

We can do that. For my two cents worth though I'd say the following. First, Wolverine 1.5 powers. (Whether or not the claws/bones are a power seems to be solid cannon now but for the longest time it wasn't and many major story arcs hinged on the fact that his claws were NOT part of his mutant powers and thus worked just fine even when powers were being surpressed. Even powers that turned Beast from a furry blue thing into normal human) And regeneration. Regeneration isn't a huge power. I don't see any reason why two unrelated mutants couldn't have that power any more than there couldn't be multiple flyers, telepaths, speedsters etc etc.

(So I think we're working to hard to fit into traditional cannon when your origin scenario pretty much throws cannon right out the fucking window and any resemblance to real cannon is sheerly coincidental/lazy on our part.)

There are plenty of real life child soldiers and the idea if you're willing to be a bit lenient on Ozcorp being the only people who've had any success she (and Logan) can be the result of other people working on Super Soldiers.

But whatever is gonna be the least amount of work is what I'm down with.

I was actually thinking about that. Like maybe HYDRA spies within Oscorp and other companies has a formula that was a precursor to Oz or something. Oz is newer and much more effective, buy maybe the precursor needed to be activated by radiation or something. Like, for Logan, he gets the pre-Oz chemical injected into his system, and at first, it shuts down his body. But once he is placed inside a chamber and assaulted with radiation, the chemical jumps to life and brings his vitals back online. This precursor formula is useless without the radiation chamber, so it's a hassle and expensive, but Oz is active by default and doesn't need the chamber.

I don't know if I'd even make it that predictable/reliable. Especialy if you're going with the daughter/clown theory maybe there is just something about Wolverine that is fairly unique. Marvel is filled with experiments that either only worked once or nobody is 100% clear how the fuck it happened the first time. Hulk, Fantastic Four, Dare Devil. I would find out what nationality she is and claim that she was their attempt at recreating the Serum and then the rest of your plan sounds grand to me.

Yeah, that sounds better. Like, maybe every test subject died except for Wolvie, so after Isiah helped him escape, they had to clone him because the procedure had a 99.9% rate of failure.

And if we trust what I understand of X-23's back story she's either the 23rd attempt to clone Weapon X(10) or (more likely) she's part of the twenty third batch potentially of hundreds of clones. A 99.99% failure rate means you could potentially go through 10k clones without getting one that survives and unless you've got some really good tech clones take time, energy and money. The idea that they once upon a time there was an entire class room of 50 six year old X-23s in one room of which 30 died before turning seven, ten more before they turned 12 and only one lived to turn 18 sounds like a pretty good back story.

that dose sound interesting

but will he have the abilities of making claws

also is saber is done would it be like he's out in the cold and almost freezes to death then the virus activates

Well, I meant a 99.9% rate of failure for the pre-Oz formula. Every single test subject died except for Wolverine, so once he escapes, they clone him because they know it might be impossible to find another candidate who could survive the procedure. And yeah, in the comic X-23 is the 23rd attempt. Maybe the first 22 became unstable and Laura was the first to not go insane when she reached maturity. Maybe all the other clones began to deteriorate mentally as they hit puberty.

LOL. Depending on if Nite shows up or not, Deadpool could be one of HYDRA's creations to that went batshit crazy, hehehe.

He's not that famous yet, he's only been around as Spider-Man for maybe a few days. You could have Jonah mention the mutants and then make a slight reference to a "freak in tights" or something, lol.

I just avoided him for the time being, if we ever end up wandering back to our day jobs I'll kep that in mind but thank you lots!

Snippity Snip!
Other than those things, my other major problems are the inclusion of Carnage when Venom hasn't even spawned any children yet. And why did Cletus Kasady (you spelled his last name wrong), who has had these powers, even let himself get arrested and go through the months-to-years long process of a trial? And why on earth did you kill him off? LOL. And why does the courtroom not gasp at the fact that Jennifer has likely ripped through all her clothes and is standing there naked? And why does she seem so easy to adapt to her new status as a mutant? And why doesn't anyone mention that it might be the virus that changed her -- doesn't anyone watch the news? LOL.

I must confess, while reading through the posts, I did say out loud, "What the fuck?" and raise my hands up a few times, lol.

Sorry, about the spelling. That was how it was spelled on the web site that I glanced at to make sure I had the name wrong. He didn't let himself get arrested, just like the real Carnage he commited his crimes, was sent to jail and got powers. In this case either from a cop or another inmate. I thought there were no super powers until in this world until very recently. The fact that the powers he got seem similar to his real powers well that's just luck and I don't think the real Carnage would die from that so if you want him alive he can regenerate from that, if not well the real carnage can just get a new host. They do that don't they?

As for her being naked, Hulk has stretchy pants! In fiction clothing grows just enough to maintain modesty. . .or not. It's not like Shulkie would care much one way or the other. She adapts so easily to her new status as a mutant for the same reason Jen does in the comics. Apparently part of her Hulk Power Set is Super Confidence instead of her regular mousy insecure self.

Someone probably would have mentioned the virus, I just didn't feel like writing out a whole bunch of exposition that is already baked into the OOC. We know what's going on.
