Today I made an effort. For supper I am serving Iman Bayildi (roasted eggplant stuffed with vegetables and pine nuts), Dolma (seasoned rice and vegetables wrapped in grape leaves), Kefta kabobs (spiced lamb meatballs on a stick), Saffron rice with raisins, Greek salad, Pita bread, Tzatziki (Greek yogurt sauce), and honey-soaked Baklawa for desert.

Thanks for explaining those and that all sounds quite yummy! I knew what some were but didn't have the foggiest what the rest were.

I went to a Greek church's food day festival once (definitely not religious but I hoped my being there wasn't tantamount to blasphemy  ) and walking around saw and smelled MANY good foods, that I didn't have a clue what they were called. It didn't stop me from trying out many.
One favorite, and I can't recall the name, was a honey dough ball. A very addictive treat! :D

*drooling*
Kitsune Udon.

It bugs me that everyone reviews Japanese restos purely based on what they think of the sushi, as someone who loves, but can't eat raw.

There's SO MUCH more....more for me, I guess.

It bothers me as well. It can't be helped, it's what people know about Japanese food. If anyone asks about my cooking and I tell them I mostly make Japanese food the first thing they ask, "oh? Do you make sushi?" They proceed to tell me they love fried chicken rolls and California rolls. I always just smile and tell them I sometimes make sushi.

Kitsune udon is one of my favorite udon dishes. :)

Tonight was a stuffed pepper night. Nothing fancy about it. Well, the nicest part was eating dinner with Mister.

Cruel. Just cruel posting something so luscious and sugar filled.

Still on my sugar elimination diet. ~Sigh~ Unless, just possibly, that's sugar free?!?!

Well, near as I can recall, and as much as I remember, it was just dough and honey. So, no sugar per se. It was basically a fried food...

Unfortunately, I think dough, honey, and fried are all three pretty much synonymous with sugar. So sad.... :(

But thanks for trying! :)

Yummmmmmmy! Those are Loukomades! They're a lot like donuts. I cannot eat them any more because they contain gluten, but I could make some and then smell them...cause I want to smell some balls? Holy crap, what am I saying?!

For lunch, I am frying up leftover lamb, onions, and saffron rice and serving it atop a bowl a wheatless tabouli (middle eastern herb salad) and drizzling it with tzatziki.

I need to stop doing this in my phone, it's not easy to link. Collar_N_Cuffs, I didn't forget about you :)

Thanks! :) I did Google, but anytime you are researching recipes it's a gamble unless someone who knows how it should be done gives you a recommendation...

Anti inflammatory rice bran goo for lunch, kicking around cod in green curry as a dinner idea.

Aha! thanks for explaining that. You know, I never thought to explain them as donuts. Even when I ate them, I didn't think "It's a doughnut hole!" Isn't that funny/odd?

Couldn't they be made with a gluten-free dough though? hmm...

****

Ate some pancakes earlier today and for the novelty of it, I wrapped them around a chicken (hot) dog (no condiments/toppings).

Herbed baked chicken, sweet potato oat casserole with cinnamon walnut crumble topping, oven roasted asparagus and garlic drizzled in olive oil, and a salted rainbow of sliced heirloom tomatoes.

Dessert, wheat free cocoa oat almond cookies served with ice slushed vanilla flax milk with a shake of nutmeg and cinnamon.

Is it necessary to mention asking for an update? I would hope it isn't but if it is, there it is. XD

Grilled lamb, haricot vert and mashed potatoes. Yum...

Wonderfully intoxicating verbal and visual foods to whet the appetite you two. bravo.

Tuna surprise our way. ;)

Short grain rice mixed with tuna, mayo, and diced onion. We toast nori (sheets of seaweed) and use the nori to pick up the rice mixture. The noir is crunchy and the rice is soft and creamy. It's delicious!

Oh, that sounds really good! I'm going to try that sometime.

Our go to tuna dish is with tuna, basmati rice, beluga lentils and a tomato sallad made with finely diced tomatoes and shallots with a balsamico vinaigrette.
We all eat it like the kids, mixing it in to a big heap on the plate.

^^this sounds way more healthy and very yummy. Mine is a lazy night kind if meal. :)

Salad nicoise, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and coconut gelato for dessert.

I burned the hell out of them! Experiments were meant to be repeated, right?

Thanks LWulf. :)

Tonight, pan grilled curried cod drizzled with with fresh lime juice, stir fried green beans, garlic, and red peppers, and sliced mango tossed with a little orange juice, diced dried apricots and craisins.

Dessert, simple ice cold lime jello and sliced pineapple.

Coconut oil seared scallops, oven roasted zucchini and garlic, and a raw spinach, honeyed walnut, feta, and fresh strawberry salad drizzled with balsamic.

Came home from a ren faire that I acted in (yeah, I'm a nerd) with 1.5 half gallons of half & half (milk/cream mix), two pie shells and some random veggies plus a cantaloupe. I'm already planning chicken pot pie for tomorrow to use up the pie shells.

Any ideas on what to do with the rest of the half & half other than pudding (which I made a batch of earlier)?

You could make some ice cream or some chowder.

Last night was pasta with artichoke hearts, tomato, red onion, and chicken seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, fresh parsley, and feta cheese. I tossed a few olives on as well.

For a simple salad: dandelion greens with a warm balsamic vinaigrette.
