For years, liberals and conservatives alike ragged on Muslims. They were both nuts about Muslims imposing their "religious values" on the west. I always found it interesting that neither seemed concerned that removing pubic hair was a historic Islamic practice. Always tried to get the Islamophobes to join me in condemning it, but nope. It was weird. Islam doesn't seem to be on the poopey list for liberals and conservatives anymore, but the public still deserves to know that a supposed "woman hating" religion advocates pubic hair removal for women.

Seems like a valid factoid for people to be aware of.

And, no, removing pubic hair is NOT a Christian or European custom. Maybe in ancient times, but I'm not sure of that even. I don't know if its a Jewish practice, but I think it is not.

We are talking about a religion that both liberals and conservatives, and especially feminists, have attacked repeatedly as "anti-woman" or worse in the past 10-15 years. The same religion has always advocated that women shave their pubic hair. Its a valid point to mention that this "woman hating" religion advocates this practice. Almost no western women who have joined this no pubic hair fad in the past generation know this. Don't they deserve to know this?

Is the pressure for women to remove pubic hair part of the War on Women? It seems like a valid question to raise.
