Not sure if you're looking for a response on this one or not.....

I think, for those who have JUST joined, I think they maybe just don't have a good feel for what a lot of us consider to be the accepted protocol.

I know I've dropped you a note here and there, and honestly, I don't remember if I commented here first or what. Sometimes, you just get a read on a person and take a chance. I also, generally, don't take it personally if I PM someone in that context and don't hear back.

What I imagine happens is, they see that someone has a lot of regular commenters with whom they interact, and that can be, for lack of a better word, intimidating to someone who is new, or has never interacted there. So, dropping a PM unsolicited is taking a chance, and, if you don't respond, there's nothing lost by the sender there. If they post here, and you don't respond while responding to other comments, then that's a more public expression of 'I don't find you interesting', and that can be a blow to the ego.

Or, they just flip a damn coin-heads= public comment, tails= PM. People are just random, and figuring them out can be frustrating.

I have ... and obviously they will know who they are...and it just annoys me...Two people who NEVER comment on my thread. Yet they comment on every other thread...but I get daily PM's from them.
