I received my first DSLR last Christmas, a Nikon D3100, and I haven't been able to put it down. I have no formal photography training, just a love of sharing images and learning through trial and error. I feel like my understanding of all the camera settings have improved greatly and my picture composition has improved as well. But I'm still quite a newbie at this and am constantly pushing myself to improve. My eventual goal is to be able to make prints that are sellable.

Here are a few of my pictures and would love to know what you think. For any of the pros out there, any tips and suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated. :D

I really like the smoking glass. :)

May I suggest resizing them and displaying them using codes

A few more from Napa.

The first is a old truck outside of V. Sattui Winery.
The second is from Sterling Vineyards.
The third is an old style water tower, don't remember what vineyard it was a part of.

Love the vineyard pic. So much warmth, I can almost smell the grapes.

That is one of my favorites. And such an awesome winery too! I highly recommend it to anyone going to Napa. :D

Drove my younger brother last weekend over the mountains and back for his final quarter at my alma mater. A few pics from that trip, two I snapped from my car driving on the interstate.

Some older ones now. Some ivy during a frosty morning and the highway at night.

I can tell it's long exposure, but is this one HDR as well?

Nice portfolio. For a self-described amateur, you make me jealous :)

No HDR, just a long exposure in the right lighting. Glad you're enjoying my pics so far. :). I've actually signed up for an Adobe Lightroom class this spring.
